During a press gaggle on Thursday, Border Czar Tom Homan was asked whether he thought every undocumented immigrants should be mandated to wear ankle monitors.

00:00There are reports that ICE is looking to expand ankle monitors for 180,000 plus migrants in the ATD, Alternative to Detention Program.

00:11What can you tell us about that?

00:12I'm not on weeds on that, but I support it.

00:15I looked at the numbers the other day on the removal orders over the last year.

00:1951% of those who got a removal order were in absentia, which means they didn't show up in court.

00:24So ankle monitors helps with that.

00:25So I'm not on weeds on that, but if that's happening, I support it 100%.

00:29Mr. Roman, are you going to keep sending Venezuelan members of the TDA to?

00:32Following up on that, do you believe that every illegal immigrant should happen?

00:36Well, you know, every case is different.

00:40Deportationals make that adjustment based on criminal history, immigration history, so it's a case-by-case basis.

00:45But I can tell you, back when I was the ICE director, having that GPS capability increased those going to court a lot.

00:55So it doesn't make a difference.

00:56And it's cheaper than detention, right, in some cases.

00:59But, you know, again, it depends on the cases, but GPS in the past has been very helpful, getting people to court.

01:07And that's a big, like I said, 51% of the removal orders are in absentia.

01:11If GPS helps them get them to court, I'm not behind it.
