A brazen theft of letters in the middle of the city.
00:06
So I'm assuming somebody just got in that way and forced the door open and just grabbed a sack of mail and ran for it.
00:12
You put a lot of trust in the organisations like that and it's very strange to hear.
00:18
After the fourth break in, in less than a fortnight, Australia Post sent its customers this letter,
00:23
warning the offenders accessed secure areas between the 6th and 17th of July.
00:29
And there'll be additional security, including a security guard during non-staffed hours.
00:35
Australia Post says the theft happened on the mezzanine level of the post office.
00:39
We're not allowed inside to film but it's basically a whole wall of black locked post boxes.
00:43
Australia Post says the thieves broke in from the back of house area.
00:47
One of roughly 500 customers affected was Mercer Super.
00:52
It told its 1.1 million members.
00:55
There's no indication that any member's personal information has been published externally or sold as a result of this incident.
01:03
Still, customers should be alert for suspicious emails or calls.
01:08
Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
01:11
Australia Post says it's moving its facility across the road next month.
