Metal artist Luke Perry, talks about his new sculpture called Fighting From Home.
Transcript
00:00My name is Luke Perry, and I'm a public artist working predominantly in the black country.
00:08And this is probably one of the most personal things I've ever made,
00:12because it's about reserved occupationists, who many of my family were,
00:17among with hundreds of men, thousands of men in this area,
00:20in industrial areas, farming land, lots of places like that.
00:24Because reserved occupationists in the Second World War were not allowed to fight,
00:28because their skills were so great that they were necessary to stay at home
00:32to make sure the war effort could carry on.
00:35So this is called Fighting From Home, and it's dedicated to people like my grandad, Eric Atwood,
00:41and a lot of the very gentle men of that generation who stayed at home and fought war their own way.
