00:00three families have gone back in time and swapped their 21st century lives for an 1880s homestead
00:14so far they've got to grips with frontier finances we have $30 this is our life savings
00:24in 1880s struggle to build homes I need an electric saw and bonds if you could spare a little time with
00:34me today but we're more than willing just to cut it off short and help you yeah I don't really need
00:39help yet right yet okay I only have so much time I can help you guys because I got a family that's
00:46gonna be bugging me all the stuff that irritated me but there is a calm before the storm right
00:54better batten down the hatches people
01:16I need to put on like an extra pair of socks my feet are numb I'm cold it's so freezing
01:28Landon will you bring me the broom out here please close my door letting all the heat out
01:37today's a special breakfast because it's jet's birthday it's happy birthday jet thank you
01:55happy birthday today can I can't believe it toast to my birthday yeah it's not like a normal birthday
02:03like my parents will wake me up and it's like come on it's your birthday like let's go downstairs
02:08let's open presents today that was not the case I don't normally eat oatmeal and hot corned beef
02:15jet's birthday breakfast leaves a lot to be desired you know what would be better if we had eggs for
02:22that yes in fact after two weeks living on simple frontier food everyone's getting a little
02:30hangry I want me some cereal got no cereal you wish we had some eggs like some grits and eggs yeah my
02:40grandma's though yeah that took you somewhere didn't I am sick and tired I am tired and sick of serving my
02:50kids canned ham corned beef rice and beans I want something different I mean we got a whole chicken
02:58coop out there I assume some kind of animal goes inside of it Landon get the almanac to find out what the
03:09frontier has in store next the families turn to their go-to guide that's what he has to say today
03:15greetings hopefully you are feeling more settled when a bit more familiar with the life of the 1880s
03:22homestead it's time to expand your horizons and start providing for yourselves the real work of
03:28homesteading is about to begin livestock was one of the most important investments a homesteader could
03:33make the county auction is today Lucas is very excited it's up to you to decide how much you want
03:44to bid yes so we have to buy it though that sucks why does it suck because I wanted to buy fudge not
03:50cows we need a strong cow that can produce a lot of milk and maybe beef down the line we want to
03:57extra cute one yeah like big ears big eyes auctions scare me a little bit but if the price keeps going
04:05up and we have very little budget so hopefully everybody will play nice and we'll all be able
04:11to get our animals at a decent price if there's a baby goat we're getting it at the auction okay
04:16because it's my birthday and I want a baby goat things are looking up for jet but not everyone's feeling
04:25so perky Ethan how'd you sleep last night buddy where do you feel bad you're achy I can see your
04:33flush too are you gonna be up for today or do you want to you want to stay home and just stay in bed
04:40all day the important thing is that we get you feeling better good thing they're headed somewhere
04:47they can pick up a new kid thank you modern homesteader Melissa will be their auctioneer
05:07she rears a hundred percent of the meat and eggs her family eat so knows a thing or two about livestock
05:15here we've got pamphlets that are going to let you know about the lot take a peek what's a good
05:22morning to your homes how y'all doing good how are you panorix this is a really big moment for the
05:30homesteaders what are these these are pigs when you're looking to provide for your family your
05:38livestock is essential you might have money but you might not be able to get to the store the store
05:44might not even have what you need so they really need to get into that 1880s mindset so the pressures
05:51on our families to pick the right lot all right so this is lot one starting price is $4.10
05:58one fat cow one young calf five chickens two turkeys as well they're ugly things I know you know I don't
06:08want them that one's eyeballing me right now hey I told you I don't like them so this is lot two starting
06:15price of $1.80 you get 10 chickens one goat two kids and two fat pigs can you milk it no who wants to drink
06:27pigment I don't know so this is lot three guys the storm price $4.50 one fat cow one fat goat and two kids
06:37five chickens I'm just thinking about that wrong it's bony but we wanted for me we wanted for milk
06:44mm-hmm I don't want no turkeys so I'm thinking like three would be the one definitely like three
06:50the lopers are turned off from the turkeys but when you harvest that turkey that's like the size of three
06:57or four chickens it's actually an incredible meat source if we see somebody going after like three
07:03aggressively I'm willing to get into a beating one get me number three but the halls have their eye
07:11on the same lot it's a baby it's a baby I need that that would be the best birthday gift
07:18all right Jett we want lot three no matter what we'll have to outbid everybody it's Jett's birthday
07:24today he really wants that goat if I have to spend more money and fight for a little bit I will
07:29the battle's on while the halls follow their heart lot number three for the hall
07:37the hannah rigs are all business the benefit with lot number two is chickens are going to start
07:43producing immediately they're the daily payout pigs are long-term payout so the goal is to fatten
07:50them up okay I want this in my 21st century life I would be looking at a spreadsheet evaluating
07:57returns on investment here I'm putting those analytics to work because I'm trying to determine
08:03what's generating immediately versus at the end what to the cheapest at half the cost the hannah
08:09rigs are like how do we maximize this investment and that's exactly how a homesteader would have to
08:14think so that 1880s mindset is there what is our max bidding price on lot to maybe 240
08:22all right guys we're gonna have everybody take their positions the families have limited funds
08:33so we'll need to land their favorites at the right price welcome to the county auction so we're gonna
08:41get started with lot number two which is two fat pigs one goat with two kids and 10 chickens
08:49opening bid is only $1.80 do I have $1.80 $1.80 do I have $1.85 $1.85
09:01oh my gosh Lucas group on group on absolutely Pharrell awesome it was one of those like walking away with
09:18what we wanted at the cheapest possible price it's a huge one that's a huge one okay lot number three
09:26one fat cow one fat goat and two kids non-milking and five chickens opening bid is $4.50 do I have a $4.50
09:38$4.50 $4.50 do I have $4.55 $4.60 $4.60 $4.65 $4.75 $4.80
09:51we got a $4.85 $4.85 going once no $5.25 $5.50 $5.50
10:02$6.25.
10:03$6.30.
10:04$6.50.
10:05Come on, Jeremy.
10:07Can we just go with this?
10:08You want it?
10:09Do you want it?
10:10$6.55.
10:11Since they want it, we'll go up.
10:13$7.
10:14$7.
10:15$7.05.
10:16This is fun.
10:17Oh, my gosh.
10:18Do I have a $7.10?
10:19They could buy two lots of that.
10:21Okay.
10:22$7.25.
10:23$7.30 sounds good to me.
10:25Oh, my gosh.
10:27I'll take $8.30.
10:29$8.35.
10:30$8.40?
10:33Oh, $9.
10:34I mean, he...
10:35Nothing.
10:36Yeah.
10:37I hear something.
10:38Something's coming.
10:39Sounds like...
10:44$10.
10:45$10.
10:46At $10, Jeremy's just bid over a third of his family's savings.
10:51It's theirs, baby. It's theirs.
10:56All right.
10:57All right.
10:58So good at home.
10:59$10.
11:00We're gonna miss so much money with those cats and those eggs.
11:03Woo!
11:04We just wanted to drive them all the way up there.
11:10I was enjoying the moment.
11:12I probably shouldn't have said what I said about driving the price up.
11:15Got a little excited.
11:16My adrenaline was rushing.
11:18We came and helped you when you needed that.
11:21Fine.
11:22If you wanted to waste our money.
11:24This is not how I wanted that to go.
11:26All right.
11:27On to the next one.
11:28Okay.
11:29That's fine.
11:30We see how you play.
11:31We're a very close family.
11:32So it's hard for me to see my family get hated and emotional.
11:36It's getting hot in here.
11:39I think my dad was antagonizing them and I really do think that's why they kept going.
11:45We did get what we wanted, but we did spend double the price.
11:50Yeah.
11:51So I think it's definitely gonna be harder now moving forward.
11:55Okay.
11:56Lot number one.
11:57We have one fat cow and young calf.
12:00Two turkeys and five chickens.
12:04Opening bid is 410.
12:07Do I have a 410?
12:09Yes, 14.
12:10All right.
12:11Sold.
12:12410.
12:13Woo!
12:14Good job.
12:16That was just crazy.
12:19Tell me about it.
12:21You guys drew your line in the sand.
12:24Hi.
12:25It was hard to watch, definitely, when we're supposed to be a community.
12:31I want everyone to be kind to each other.
12:36Knowing my family, I think it'll definitely take a lot to regain that sort of trust.
12:43Yeah.
12:44So I feel as though it's my mission as the peacekeeper to bring everyone back together.
12:53But I do think it's going to be a very, very hard task.
12:58That's not the only hard task.
13:08No.
13:09Not so fast.
13:11Not so fast.
13:12Pushed.
13:17Looks like buying our animals might have been the easy bit.
13:20No.
13:21Be good.
13:22Oh, she's running.
13:23I'm going to run.
13:24These goats are out of control.
13:29Oh, it's galloping.
13:30Run.
13:31It's galloping.
13:32Man, you lead, okay?
13:33I'm leading.
13:34No, you're not.
13:35She is pushing you.
13:37What are we going to name this big girl?
13:38Hey, hey, hey, hey.
13:39Oh, that big girl.
13:40Her name's Shirley.
13:41Shirley.
13:42Yeah.
13:43Oh, that big Shirley right there.
13:44Hey, this morning we woke up, we had rice and corned beef hash.
13:48Out of a can.
13:49Out of a can.
13:50Out of a can.
13:51Tomorrow, we wake up with eggs in our future.
13:53Eggs, baby.
13:54Milk in our future.
13:55That sounds pretty darn good.
13:58If we were back home, this is like buying a vehicle.
14:01Leather seats, heated seats.
14:03Yeah.
14:04I'm starting to feel a lot more country.
14:06I mean, I got the clothes on.
14:08I got the chickens.
14:09I got the cows.
14:10This is country mania right here.
14:12Piggy Eilish!
14:14She's got like a strut.
14:16Oh, my gosh.
14:18What is he doing?
14:20Are we supposed to clean the water every day?
14:22Do we have to empty it first?
14:23They can drink dirty water?
14:24Do you have to muck pigs?
14:26Do they have big poop or little poop?
14:29How do we teach them like tricks and stuff like sit?
14:32Sit.
14:33Look at the milk.
14:35Yeah, I know.
14:36Now how do we get it out?
14:37What do you want to be called?
14:38It has to be something cute.
14:40Yeah.
14:41What about peaches?
14:42Peaches!
14:43That's so cute!
14:44You guys like peaches for the cow?
14:46These animals will help sustain our families with eggs, milk, and if need be, the ultimate
14:54sacrifice.
14:55What can we do with these to make our money worth it?
14:57Eventually, when they're grown, they'll only be good for meat.
15:00No!
15:01What the heck?
15:02We're never gonna turn them into meat.
15:04We're keeping them as pets.
15:05Period.
15:06Hi, Nugget!
15:07Mmm.
15:08Mmm.
15:09You're so cute.
15:10I could just eat you.
15:11Just kidding.
15:12Okay.
15:13You're so cute.
15:14Okay.
15:15I need you to lay some eggs, girlfriend.
15:16Your rent is due.
15:17Same with me.
15:18Okay.
15:19I need you to lay some eggs, girlfriend.
15:20Your rent is due.
15:21Same goes for everyone else.
15:22Pay up.
15:23Pay up.
15:24You ready to pick some eggs?
15:25Mmm.
15:26I need you to lay some eggs, girlfriend.
15:28Why y'all running away?
15:29Ugh, that done pooped up in the tub.
15:30I'll see I need you to lay some eggs.
15:31Yes, it's a de-fun.
15:32So good.
15:33See you next time.
15:34We're gonna get some eggs.
15:35You have to pick my eggs.
15:36Oh, wah!
15:37Are you doing so good?
15:38I'm not doing so good.
15:39I'm not doing so good.
15:40I'm not doing so good at all.
15:41I'm not doing so.
15:42Okay.
15:43eggs girlfriend your rent is due same goes for everyone else pay up you ready
15:52to pick some eggs they done pooped up in here in the 1880s children were
16:04expected to look after livestock from as young as four years old you got some
16:09eggs i see two so we got two three four five six daddy yeah man you know what time it is what time
16:19is it it's time for breakfast because we got some eggs oh yeah no can you wait he's my original
16:26ethan and lucas no this is actually mine stop ethan please stop but not everyone cares for a to-do list
16:36motivating the boys has been a challenge they simply just don't want to do this stuff
16:42i feel like everyone's pulling their weight except jet he has to do more
16:47because we're all doing a lot and he can't be playing around all the time
16:51these eggs are delicious i know right baby good if the food continues to get better the experience
17:10will get better while living on the frontier the families have clear goals mama could you please
17:17pass me the almanac yes sir cultivating the land the hard stuff begins now now you have livestock you
17:26can move on to your next goal plowing oh this is gonna be a lot crops were planted to strict
17:33seasonal deadlines so that you have one week to sell your crop if you fail there will be nothing to
17:39harvest okay uh-oh uh-oh indeed harvesting a crop was an essential part of proving up the land
17:47and the families only have a short window to get the job done so the pressure's on
17:54it is hard manual work usually done by men and boys it's you and me jan yeah ready to get to work
18:02job i guess so yeah but we gotta work it's just how it is how do we even plow a field i don't know
18:10but it sounds like one of us needs to go and we need to divide and conquer at this point
18:17yeah it's gonna be full on manual work no machines yes okay so i'm gonna be out in the field all by
18:25myself and i'm gonna have to rely on the boys because that type of manual labor they're just not
18:32ready for it
18:32for the older kids no such luck all right boys so look once we finish our breakfast here let's put
18:43our work clothes and gear on and we'll get to the field all right we're 1880s kid you know there's a
18:49lot of responsibility coming on you it's harder than i thought when i get home i'm not gonna complain
18:54about washing dishes folding clothes washing clothes mama what are the days work in the field
19:00like early rise in the field by the time the sun is rising it's gonna be hot tired and you're gonna
19:11want to give up but you gotta keep going gotta keep going the families need to harvest an acre of wheat
19:21in order to reach their goal oh man look at the horses aren't they beautiful yes they have no
19:33modern machinery instead they'll be plowing as people did for hundreds of years you ready to do
19:39some some manly work on the farm yeah manly work yeah i wonder how hard it is you know hopefully not too hard
19:49i'm joe dan hi dan you're by yourself joe i am yes the husband's back at home okay this is two man job
19:58okay so let's get right into business the uh team and the plow that's a dollar 50 and because you're
20:08uh here by yourself it's another dollar 50 for my help okay so i'll run the horse as you run the plow
20:15okay thankfully we got our lot of animals at a super cheap price so we can afford this
20:22but if we don't get this done and done properly there'll be nothing to harvest everything is kind
20:29of riding on this ideally you're going to work it yourself with your with your boys it's been a long
20:35time since i did this type of activity and my boys have never had this type of experience so i need your
20:40assistant
20:43on the frontier children would work a team of horses from the age of 10.
20:48i think you can handle those horses kid we definitely want to give it a shot if jack can get
20:55this today i think he's going to go home feeling like a hero because at the auction we don't have
20:59a lot of money to be spending right now and we have to have our six dollars for the lance certificate
21:05at the end of this so it's really important not to go home like we couldn't do it so we had to
21:09hire some guys that would crush us i think
21:11able baker step the plow cuts through the ground turning over the soil so it's ready to seed easy
21:32this is some hard ground we've got a rock seam right through the middle it's challenging
21:37the condition of the land homesteaders were given was all down to chance
21:45it could be a fertile plot that had been farmed in the past
21:50or rocky terrain making plowing tougher rocks everywhere i've done this a time or two when i
21:57was younger but our fields were already prepped this is a whole lot more complicated than i thought
22:03it was going to be nothing like breaking new ground boys we have to move these rocks
22:12i don't like anything about this hey put the thing down on your 20 year thumbs today
22:17i need you getting the work done okay
22:23when i'm working this hard i'm usually at the gym you know with some air conditioning my headphones in
22:29this is not what i'm used to i'm hating it i don't need attitude i don't need moping tough love is
22:37something that runs in my dad's veins it's okay to get your hands dirty yes sir i know it comes from a
22:43good place so at this point we're just going to carry on and just suck it up because that's what
22:48we're supposed to do build your hands up be a little rougher so you can show the girls you got some
22:53rough hands not soft hands and they're ready landing yes sir huh i said yes sir what's your energy with
23:01it man you sir hey with max and landing they're hurting me more than they helping me it's the
23:08unwillingness to even step up and try to do it with some energy
23:11big shirt come in mom you might want to hurry up come on blanket back at the cabin stacy's got her
23:25own problems i have no idea about farm animals none zilch nada use this as a hitch
23:34i'll tell you what you gotta you got it to a rhythm mama takes me back to my roots growing up in the
23:47country or fall we used to have to get up every morning around 4 30. uh-oh thank you for the cue
23:58of spreading your legs and letting us know you got to do something all right stacy it's time for you to try
24:04it's all right girl and literally surely i don't know what this feels like i ain't never did this
24:10before and i don't have nothing to compare it to gotta relax come on down it ain't doing nothing
24:21and she kicked over what meal we had shoot that's a mess oh ethan ethan do not let the babies out okay
24:31all right so i have a question lucas do you want to milk her or do you want to hold her i don't care
24:36it's milking time at the anna riggs place too do you know how to talk goat no if jason can get the
24:43kids to cooperate i'm gonna hold her do you want to kind of squeeze the milk into the teeth and then
24:50then i need your help oh okay hold her and just pet her but dude you can't let her rock away
25:05ethan do you want to help ethan ethan you gotta hold her cool let out the babies no do not let out the
25:11babies please oh baby baby i'm loose baby we're not ready for ariana gote i was just standing here
25:21watching and she squeezed past me she's milking so a little stressful as more responsibility stacks up
25:28on my plate you know boys are young i really need them to step up i really need them to be contributors
25:35to our family do not open this gate again lucas joseph hannah riggs it's not fun i think i'd rather
25:41be in the field today peaches we're coming for you at the halls having paid a high price at the auction
25:51all clean the pressure's on for their animals to produce it's coming out for real it's a tiny bit
26:00look i got milk where is it we spent our ten dollars and so far what we have is three goats that
26:12are pets the cow that gives me less than a shot of milk so it's all resting on the chickens to give us
26:20eggs hi girls got any eggs come ah no eggs what a waste of money stupid chicken sucks
26:42look at where you're going
26:42good job jack thank you ease up a little easy move to the left a little jet please easy
26:58just watch your line hot in the flower keep going now i'll say a good firm whoa whoa whoa
27:07you gotta give him a big whoa like you're yelling at your sisters jet
27:10okay the pressure i'm feeling is like i'm responsible for what dad's doing because
27:17where i move he moves and then big horses i have to get this right and then i don't want to spend too
27:25much money
27:29what's up kid i really don't feel good it's not about the horses
27:40you're afraid of not i i know i i know you're afraid of failing so and you don't want to let the
27:45family down you're not failing what do you want to do i keep doing this but i don't know if i can't
27:51it's just a matter of confidence i know he wants to do this and prove that he can do it i think we
27:57just need a little time for him to figure it out while jet takes a breather oh joe is plowing on
28:11oh come on okay this is not come on whoops come on yeah dig in dig in dig in um this is like a
28:29combination of a runaway stairmaster and elliptical and trying to keep that plow in the right place
28:35um that's a furrow to be proud of joe it may not have been easy but with the help of the plowman
28:47joe has almost finished his field final run oh yeah
28:51throw that thing over oh this is way tougher than i anticipated and i'll never do this again
29:11thank you dan well thank you really appreciate it you're pretty impressive that was a job well done
29:15my husband how was the field today sucked there's a reason we have modern machinery
29:28how'd i go here it was busy everything just takes forever so it's one of those that like
29:34i feel like i haven't sat down much how'd the boys do it's been a long day doing the work that's
29:40required on the homestead trying to make sure the kids are happy being told to fall into a certain
29:45role and just being told this is what you have to do versus having the opportunity to decide today's
29:50been tough i don't know it's just been kind of non-stop today it's given me a whole new level of respect
29:56in terms of what the women in the 1880s actually had to do on a daily basis all right guys cheers to goat
30:02melt melt melt melt melt it oh it's a little thick yeah it's useless and it's gross
30:21easy keep pulling up on those handles
30:25change some these rocks and get on my last nerves far from finished team step are the lopers
30:43my man mr mike gave me a breather this is ten times harder than i ever could imagine today being
30:49if we do not get this done today it sets us back if we get set back we may not have the harvest we need
30:55i'm starting to get to that point after hours clearing rocks less than half their field is plowed
31:02so they'll have to come back tomorrow hey what's up nothing
31:13hey mom hey joaquin baby what's the matter uh horrible day
31:20mm-hmm barely getting any work done during the field is rocky and to be honest with you there
31:27are no help there are no help this is they're more in the way than anything how did you feel being out
31:35there in the field i didn't want to be out there just like lecture life lesson after lecture after life
31:42lesson that's what life is going to be made up of okay joaquin let the boy be 14. let him be 12.
31:51they are going to always perform at the highest level that joaquin wants them to perform at
31:55i advocate for the boys to just be boys and that's where joaquin and i just don't see eye to eye
32:05he grew up in a disciplined home he is prior military it's like they have to do this and be
32:12men and this is what it looks like to be a man and no be a kid how do you feel man
32:23as the oldest
32:27as the oldest son it like i just feel like i'm pressured to do a lot of things i'm like i used
32:33to and it's just like growing up i was pushed you know not to cry not and to always be serious in
32:39some moments and to you know not be a child they are not you and they don't have to be you
32:49it feels really tough to cry in front of my dad he's like a role model but when i cry in front of
32:54him it's like that he's gonna be disappointed in me i really just want him to you know just let me be
33:01me if we do not get this done we fail and i get i get it you got that not gonna lose mentality but can
33:10we just like bring it down a little bit and at least be able to hear each other
33:19what landon said really weighed heavy on me and just hearing stacy say something she said just you know
33:25i mean gave me some things to think about yeah nice still out in the field jets back at the rings
33:42good job jet thank you you got it kid we're doing it kid
33:47i'm working a plow you're working a plow good job kid
33:55that's looking good when we went in the fields i wasn't sure what i was going to get out of jet i
33:59didn't know whether he was going to give me a hard day's work or whether he was just going to chase
34:04butterflies team but he's killing it here he's nailing he's exceeded my expectations but why he's
34:13comprehended what we have to do and he stayed focused and i'm really proud of him good job jet
34:19whoa there there you go nicely done thank you i've never seen anybody take so quickly to that
34:27but we got it done before dark now all we got to do is come back and harrow the field
34:31what's a harrow what you don't know what a harrow is no man was this your first day on the job or what
34:36man you knew it is my first day on the job what are you talking about we did it wait till we tell mom
34:56it might be early but the morning to-do list is already underway i see a big mess that i would like
35:10to organize like my wardrobe back home everything should be in order oh my god this stupid thing won't
35:18open all this work to get the freaking can open oh my god can i get in i don't do chores that much
35:30at home but this is like a fun chore i found five eggs already get down thank you come on it's all right
35:40now got milk you can actually feel it when the milk is down there i cannot believe i milk the cow
35:51uh-oh if you put it in the bucket in the bucket easy joaquin's back in the field
36:00yep but this time he's plowing solo so we'll have to back up here easy
36:07i thought it was best if the boys didn't come back out i was already frustrated to the highest
36:13i didn't want to take it out on them but i could not have done it by myself having mr mike
36:19and his team was invaluable good job okay we're getting into the rocks so three dollars was a great
36:25investment oh boy hey look at how much ground we've plowed yeah but look how much we have to go
36:31at the halls thank you peaches we love you good girl things are looking up look at this this is all
36:43the milk peaches produced today that's milk awesome how long did that take you don't even ask like two
36:50hours i'm curling it i'm gonna get buff i did spend a lot of money on my animals so i felt the pressure
36:59but now the cow's giving us lots of milk so that makes me feel accomplished but lots of milk and no
37:07fridges meant that frontier families would have to turn any excess into butter cheese knock knock
37:15hello hi or something more exciting how's life on the homestead we're living well i know it can be
37:24hard but i'm just here to let you know that homestead's not all drudgery you can have some fun
37:30okay what are the folks in this photo up to it looks like they're eating something
37:39they are eating ice cream wow oh my gosh that sounds so good these people are having an ice cream
37:47social like a party an 1880s ice cream party that sounds fun first to make ice cream you need
37:57the churn and then of course you need that's ice you got it mia it's a 50 pound block at the stuff
38:06by the 1880s ice was big business cut out of lakes and rivers and sold in blocks
38:13we're gonna have an ice cream party right a bunch of strawberries we can put it in there strawberry
38:17ice cream the only downside is you got to make it yourself there's always a catch have fun thank you
38:24so here's the plan we make ice cream and then we invite everyone this could bring the community
38:32together we just got dropped off some things to make ice cream and he wants to have an ice cream party
38:39what well the plan is to invite all the kids in the neighborhood and if the parents want to come
38:47then they can come too oh i'm not really good with a lot of people and it's going to be weird to see
38:56joaquin and stacy since the auction but this is really about the kids too this is going to be awkward
39:03don't you think you know but we can kind of make it about the kids and jet's birthday yay
39:11so i have the recipe for ice cream okay hold on if hard ice cream is desired begin six hours before
39:20serving that's a lot of work yeah my bad guys we're still doing it
39:24who knew potatoes grew like this oh that's a good one wow it's a little bit of a rough terrain
39:38without telephones or email inviting people to a party meant a long walk hello hi so pretty over
39:48here i didn't realize you guys are like on such a nice hill well we still haven't seen y'all's place
39:52either too speaking of that we wanted to invite you all to a little ice cream party oh my gosh
39:58that would be so fun do we need to bring anything or no just yourselves that's nice ice cream party
40:04i like that they're having a little ice cream social well i think it'll be nice to take something over
40:10as a nice little gift yeah what about some fudge oh that'll be real good perfect we got a recipe for
40:17fudge it was a surprise to get invited to the ice cream social at the halls there has been no
40:23communication since the auction but i hope that we can move on from this i hope that we can reconcile
40:31this is a lot of first for me making fudge milking a cow we're cleaning the house mopping the floor
40:39but this is violent it smells good while stacy whips up a peace offering we have some ice so we can
40:48start packing it the halls are busy churning the all-important ice cream one two three four the
40:57hardest part on the frontier is that everything takes so much time 17 quicker 18 19 it was hard
41:05worried i felt like a 54 year old man 80 81 82 83 80 my back did
41:13this is a real workout don't need no gym
41:21out here plowing in a field feels like i'm running up a hill there we go always working it's so hard
41:31i just want to get back to my yard this is something the toughest work i've ever done
41:39whoa getting out here by myself man hey man hey what you doing up here just came to bring you your

44:15you know for me they are who they are we are we're not looking to change them and we're not going to
44:22change ourselves so we'll see what happens that looks amazing listen a small scoop for me nothing big
44:32okay we're gonna get the kids served real quick yeah no problem like a tiny scoop a tiny scoop smaller
44:39than that okay i mean it's awkward it's extremely like weird let's go thank you so much i just really

45:46they go to they also have soccer practice they have all these new chores and responsibilities um
45:52they're missing their friends so this is like a breath of fresh air it's just it's just good to see

46:06they're actually the cutest things thank you in the frontier i hate how they poop little pellets
46:12our pigs only poop and pee in one space and now we're starting to think they poo in their
46:17and their water trough because they're laying and then we see bubbles coming out of their butt
46:21yeah i think the party was great who doesn't love ice cream i love getting together with the other
46:28frontier kids there's no tension there's no beef i just kind of wish the adults would move on and
46:36make friends and ease up we're gonna get up out of here cool i'm hoping the auction is all just water
