Jamie Rooke interviews Buckland Athletic 1st XI captain Ben Carter ahead of the new Western League season.

00:00So I'm joined here with Ben Carter, Buckingham Athletic, first team captain for the new season.

00:05Hi Ben, how's pre-season been so far?

00:08Yeah, it seems to be going alright so far.

00:10Lots of new faces, so lots of people to integrate into the team well.

00:15But yeah, it's going alright, we had some good results,

00:18and some results will be expected against like Torquay,

00:21but we still held our own there, so yeah, happy with it so far.

00:25And obviously first game of the season is Saturday,

00:27how are the preparations going in general for the new season?

00:30Yeah, preps going well, another game tonight,

00:33so last little chance to get some fitness into people's legs,

00:36and sort of Matty to get ready with what he knows he wants to start with at the weekend.

00:41Should be a bit of a challenge, because they've just come up,

00:44so newbie promoted, they'll be raring to go,

00:46but we want to try and make our home ground a bit of a fortress this year,

00:51so we'll start Saturday.

00:54Yeah, and just last question, do you set yourself any specific goals

00:57as an individual player, or just go with it really?

01:00Not really as an individual, no.

01:02But as a team we have, we set ourselves some goals,

01:05we set ourselves some targets we want to do by sort of Christmas,

01:08and then by the end of the season, so we'll see how we get on with those.

01:12Yeah, pretty good.
