Oregon Ducks Dan Lanning Discusses short turn around games and how they deal with that
Transcript
00:00So we did that with a couple games last year and again we'll probably follow that
00:07same model for one game this next season.
00:10Not necessarily do that for nine games, but for earlier conditions it'd be exciting.
00:15Sometimes they're going to do that.
00:16Like on a Thursday to Northwestern?
00:19Yeah, like last year we went on a Thursday for the Michigan game.
00:21Yeah, yeah.
00:22Did you find that when you guys, like when you went to Wisconsin,
00:26when you went to Purdue last year, did you see any kind of differences like in the moment
00:31as you were watching the game?
00:32Like those weren't your most efficient two games last year?
00:37Yeah, I think the Wisconsin game at least at that point,
00:40I think we played eight straight conference games at that point.
00:44They had a great environment, great crowd.
00:46That certainly could be a piece of it traveling, but Purdue that was a short week
00:52to leave after the Ohio State game play on Friday.
00:55So, you know, we will have similar situations this year.
00:58We play Iowa, right, at Iowa on a Saturday and then we play Minnesota on a Friday
01:02following week, right, and Minnesota has to buy a week before they play us.
01:06So, I mean, that's unique.
01:07But if you're aware of it, communicate it, don't make the moment bigger in the moment,
01:10go play the game, not the occasion, you'll be fine.
01:12Coach, Rose Bowl didn't go the way you wanted it to last year.
01:15You've had great perspective from that, listen to everything you've said.
01:18What is a lesson or two?
01:25One month ago, this is unique.
