00:00Number one, he has great charisma for his age, too.
00:07I think he's got an old soul because of his background and
00:11everything him and his wife have gone through.
00:13So I mean, I think the kids like him.
00:15But that's one of the things that sticks out to me in all the events I've been around.
00:20I agree, he's very confident, he's got high energy, he's never met a stranger.
00:25And he seems to be the same every day, regardless of how low everybody gets.
00:31He's also worked for Todd Graham, Nick Saban, and Kirby Smart.
00:37And those were all great programs.
00:38So he learned a lot about what he wanted to do when he got his own program.
00:42One of the cool parts about the Stallings Award is that you guys,
00:45as recipients, get to vote on the winner.
00:49Why do it that way?
00:51I think coaches know, you know, like any business,
00:53everybody within the side of the business knows who the best coaches are,
00:58who the good people are, and Coach Lanning fits both of those categories.
01:02Great person, great coach, and you know,
01:05it's great to see somebody at his age that's doing so well,
01:09because he's going to have a long lineage.
01:12And when Coach Stallings started this with Bill Duvall,
01:17he really wanted it to be more than just the winning coach.
01:21Which coaches are doing it right?
01:23Who's giving back to the community?
01:25Because he cares about the Rise School.
01:27His son Johnny had Downs.
01:29He started the Rise School of Tuscaloosa when he was there.
01:33And then he wanted this to grow.
01:35Now there's eight Rise Schools in America.
01:37There's one in Austin that Sally and I started.
01:40But he wanted this award to be more than just about what everybody knew.
01:44And that's about winning.
01:45And we all know who does it right, and who doesn't, and who gives back.
01:48So that makes this a special award.
01:50And that's about winning, but we're going to win.
01:54So, that's why we won't win.
