00:00This story really is not going away for the Trump administration.

00:03This meeting between Ghislaine Maxwell and the Deputy Attorney General,

00:08is it about justice, do you think, or is this some sort of a political optic that we're seeing play out?

00:12I think there's quite a few things going on here.

00:14Yes, the Trump administration has got itself in a bit of a bind over the Epstein files

00:19because, of course, they spent the election year.

00:22A lot of them who are now very senior in the administration

00:24spent the last year and a bit, actually, calling for the Epstein files to be released,

00:32for this client list to be released, to bring in the third parties who might be involved.

00:37And then they had this announcement saying, actually, there is no client list.

00:41Epstein operated pretty much alone.

00:44Of course, he didn't entirely operate alone, at least not according to the trial as we know it,

00:48the case as we know it.

00:50Ghislaine Maxwell is the only person serving time.

00:53And that's the other element of this story, which is that her family thinks she's been the victim

00:58of a terrible mistrial of justice and that she is effectively serving the sentence

01:03that should have been given to Epstein for all his crimes.

01:07Whether that's the case or not depends on how you look at this case.

01:11But certainly they think, Ghislaine Maxwell's family,

01:15think that her trial was very, very dodgy

01:18and was corrupted by the earlier trial of Jeffrey Epstein in 2007,

01:22where he actually got off the hook eventually.

01:25So there seems to have been some kind of DO, Department of Justice,

01:30mess up, big mess up,

01:33and an attempt to cover it up that has then lingered into pursuant cases.

01:39Whether that's what's going on here,

01:41and that's why the Department of Justice is still stonewalling on it,

01:44despite Donald Trump being in charge, is another matter.

01:48But you're certainly right to point towards the fact

01:49the Trump administration have got a real headache here

01:51because they don't quite know how to throw people off the scent

01:55because they put people onto the scent in the first place.
