Transcript
00:00So we're here at Nova Vets, brand new vets in Newport and we're with the bosses. So introduce
00:05yourselves ladies. I'm Anne Lee, I'm a veterinary nurse. I'm Kate, I'm one of the vets. And I'm Sam,
00:14one of the vets. So what's your history then? So this is a, I mean, this is a brand new place here
00:19on, is it Nye Park? How do you say it? Nye Park. Nye Park, yeah. Just over the road from Aldi,
00:26if people are wondering whereabouts in Newport. So a little bit about your history then ladies,
00:31what were you up to before this place? Well we've all worked in practice, that's how we
00:36made each other. And we all felt that the time was right to open a new practice for the people
00:46and the vets in Newport. Cool. And you're from around this way, all of you pretty much,
00:50Newport and on the outskirts? Yeah, I live in Newport, yeah, I have done since I left university.
00:55Yeah. Which is also in Newport. So I've lived here for a long time. Yeah, we all live locally.
01:02So does that mean when you go walking down the high street in Newport, you're recognising all
01:06that, you've got all these little dogs yapping going, no! I hope the dogs are pleased to see you.
01:13Well, most of the time. So ladies, what's special about Nova Vets then,
01:18then why should people come and get on board? We want to offer an independent veterinary care
01:24to the people of Newport. We want to make sure that there is a continuity of care,
01:30that people can come and see the same vet, unless someone's off on holiday, which they can't control.
01:35But yeah, try and see the same vet, really get to know the patients, the clients.
01:42We've all worked in that atmosphere before, and we all really enjoyed it, and want to bring that back.
01:50You'd second that, ladies? Of course. Absolutely.
01:53Yeah, because there is, it seems to be a bit of a national trend of a lot of the independent vets,
01:58as we know, getting bought up by the big chain. So, you'll kind of want to bring back that more
02:03personalised level of service, that more intimate service.
02:07Yeah, and that's what we wanted to do. Control over your clinical practice.
02:15Yeah, I mean, we have the benefit of being able to make all the decisions in-house.
02:20We don't have people telling us what we can or can't do, and that kind of freedom of decision
02:26can be passed on to our clients, as well, which will undoubtedly benefit them.
02:31Great stuff. And I understand you've got a little moggy in at the minute, have you?
02:35Are you looking after?
02:37Yes, yes.
02:38So, that'll be your first customer, won't it?
02:40It is.
02:41Well, it's our first patient to use the kennels.
02:43Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cool.
02:45Yeah, she's getting luxury treatment later today.
02:48Yeah, so she's christened the kennels.
02:50She has.
02:52Well, thank you, ladies. We'll have a look around, and we wish you all the best with future business.
