What was inspiring you while creating this music?
00:04
What's that?
00:06
What was inspiring you?
00:08
Was it like a life?
00:09
Was it God?
00:11
No Skida, you don't need to hear no romances.
00:14
You need to hear the dancing songs.
00:15
Let's hear the romances!
00:17
Would you ever want to work on music with Dad?
00:20
No.
00:21
No thank you.
00:22
Dad is crazy.
00:23
His singing's a little off.
00:25
Oh, Cece!
00:26
Seriously, I'm telling you!
00:28
Dad's gonna see this.
00:29
Some of my favorites are people like Auntie Missy, Missy Elliott.
00:32
Missy Elliott!
00:42
Hi, I'm Sienna.
00:43
Today I'm interviewing my mom, Sierra, for Billboard Family.
00:49
I'm so happy to be doing this with you,
00:52
because this is Big C.C. and Lil C.C.
00:55
Right?
00:56
And we always have the best times together.
00:58
We're releasing a new album.
01:01
When did you start working on this new music?
01:03
I actually started working on this like in the middle of the pandemic.
01:07
So it's been a long time, you know, back in the COVID days.
01:09
Remember we were like in the house and like just...
01:12
Were you still working on it?
01:14
I was.
01:15
Since COVID?
01:16
Uh-huh.
01:17
It's been a long time coming with this project.
01:20
Um, so I like to say it's a labor of love because I put a lot of time into it.
01:25
So like, how many songs are in your album?
01:28
Um, there are 14 songs.
01:30
And it took you that long for just 14?
01:33
I thought there would be like 300 then.
01:36
Well, because this is what happened.
01:37
So when I was making this project, I started then.
01:40
But then over time, more songs came in.
01:43
And then over time, I also put some of the songs out.
01:45
So you know Mommy's song, How We Roll?
01:46
Oh yeah.
01:47
Remember I put that song?
01:48
That's just how we roll.
01:49
Yeah.
01:50
How we roll.
01:51
That's just how we roll.
01:52
Oh yeah.
01:55
So there were songs like that.
01:57
And that song, like we know, is now gold.
01:59
Yeah.
02:00
So there were songs like that.
02:01
But I wanted to make this project as a gift to my fans.
02:04
You know Mommy's fans.
02:05
And they go, hey Sierra, we love you.
02:07
Those amazing people have, all my fans have supported me for so long.
02:13
And I just wanted to say thank you to them for supporting me.
02:16
So that's what this project is really about for me.
02:18
It's about saying thank you to my fans.
02:20
It's a gift of appreciation for all their love and support they give me.
02:23
What was inspiring about you while creating this music?
02:28
I was inspired.
02:29
What's that?
02:30
What was inspiring you?
02:32
Was it like a life?
02:33
Was it God?
02:34
And was it romance?
02:36
Okay.
02:37
Love.
02:38
Can I answer the question?
02:40
Okay, yes.
02:41
It was a lot of that.
02:43
I always get inspired by life.
02:44
And I always get inspired by all the feelings that I'm feeling.
02:49
And for this project, I was in a very, very happy place.
02:54
You know, like I mentioned, being in COVID, that was crazy.
02:57
But I still let music allow me to have a lot of fun.
03:00
I let music take me to a happy place.
03:02
Also to, again, thinking about my day one fans that have been supporting me since the very beginning.
03:07
Which is me.
03:08
They really inspired me.
03:09
I'm a fan.
03:10
Yeah, you are.
03:11
I'm your number one fan.
03:12
Aww.
03:13
Do you have a favorite memory from making this album?
03:16
Favorite memory?
03:17
You know what I would say?
03:18
I would say watching you come in the room and dance to the music was really sweet.
03:22
Do you have a favorite song on the album?
03:25
I don't know if I have one favorite song.
03:27
So, no?
03:28
Okay.
03:29
Yeah, I think that...
03:30
What is your creative song?
03:31
Wait, wait, wait.
03:32
Hold on the answer.
03:33
Hold on.
03:34
One of my favorite songs.
03:35
This is my first...
03:36
The first song that opens up the album.
03:37
It's called Made It.
03:38
Made It?
03:39
Yeah.
03:40
I love that song.
03:41
Yeah.
03:42
You actually have heard it, but a while ago you heard it.
03:43
I'll play it for you again.
03:44
What is your creative progress when creating a new project?
03:49
Oh, my creative process?
03:52
I get inspired by life, honestly.
03:54
And you know what I do?
03:55
Sometimes I can turn the music on and let the music take me to a special place.
03:59
Sometimes I'm cruising in my car and I get an idea that comes to my mind.
04:03
I go to the studio right away.
04:05
It's a combination of all things in life that inspire me with my music.
04:08
The next one, let me guess.
04:09
What's that?
04:10
Would you ever want to work on music with Dad?
04:12
No.
04:13
No, thank you.
04:14
Dad is crazy.
04:15
His singing's a little off.
04:17
Oh, Cece.
04:18
Seriously, I'm telling the truth.
04:20
Dad is going to see this.
04:21
He's like, hey, hey, ah, ah, ah.
04:25
Sienna.
04:26
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
04:27
Oh my gosh.
04:28
Dad is going to see this?
04:29
Okay, but I'm just kidding.
04:31
He's like, oh yeah.
04:33
Oh, now she flipped it?
04:35
Oh yeah.
04:36
Oh yeah.
04:37
Okay, but want to make a song with Dad?
04:38
Want to make a song with Dad?
04:39
Yeah.
04:40
Probably no.
04:41
So, I think it is best that Dad plays football and Mommy does music.
04:44
I think so.
04:45
Yes.
04:46
Great idea.
04:47
If you and dad created a song, what would it be called and what would the vibe be?
04:52
Okay, let me guess.
04:53
Love and romance.
04:55
Why do you guess that would be the vibe?
04:56
Because you guys are married.
04:58
Like, seriously.
05:00
Wedding ring.
05:01
Yes, we are married.
05:02
I would call the song Blessed.
05:03
You know why?
05:04
Oh, yeah, because you're blessed.
05:05
That's right.
05:06
You're such a great dancer.
05:08
Do you ever think how the choreography of a song would go while creating it?
05:14
Well, with the choreography of a song, I do.
05:17
I always think of how I'm going to move to the song.
05:19
And sometimes when I'm in the studio.
05:21
Sometimes you're going to be like.
05:24
Hmm?
05:25
Exactly.
05:26
When I'm in the studio, Mama, I dance to the music because it kind of gets me inspired that way.
05:31
And then I am.
05:32
I'm always thinking of the moves I want to do to my song.
05:35
So, yeah, I do get inspired with how I want to dance to my songs when I'm making them.
05:40
Is there any collaborations that you could tease in this new album?
05:44
You know, so for this album, I'm super excited.
05:48
I'm going to be working with Jazzy Faye.
05:50
And it's been a long time since we've worked together.
05:52
And also Lotto.
05:53
So, that's one of my favorite tragedy albums.
05:56
Am I going to get to see her?
05:58
I think so.
06:00
We'll make it happen.
06:04
Girl's greedy.
06:06
Ay.
06:06
Ay.
06:07
Ay.
06:08
Ay.
06:08
You have a favorite calibration that you have done in your career?
06:13
In my career?
06:14
Just say no.
06:15
Because you don't like them equally.
06:15
I know.
06:16
That's really hard.
06:17
You like them equally though.
06:18
You should like them equally.
06:20
I know.
06:21
I think you're right.
06:22
But I will try to say some of my favorite.
06:23
Can I say some of my favorite ones?
06:24
But they're all your favorites.
06:26
So, just say some of them.
06:26
But some of them.
06:27
Just some of the people.
06:29
Okay.
06:29
Because they're all your favorite.
06:30
And I know you.
06:31
Yeah.
06:31
Okay.
06:32
So, some of my favorites are people like Auntie Missy.
06:34
Missy Elliott.
06:35
Missy Elliott!
06:36
And then, I also, I love my song that I did on this project with Chris Brown.
06:50
Chris Brown.
06:51
I think me and Ludacris.
06:57
How is creating this album different from your past ones?
07:01
The way this project is different from my other projects, I would say, I don't know.
07:06
This is now my 20, this is 21 years after my first album.
07:10
Maybe it's more so my intentionality.
07:12
Like, I'm very, very intentional about making this project for my fans.
07:17
And I do think that's one of the things that sets it apart.
07:21
It's really, really, really a special, extra special gift for my fans.
07:25
And me.
07:26
Yes.
07:26
Mostly me.
07:28
What is your favorite part about your job?
07:29
Man, you know, my favorite part about my job is I get to travel the world and I get
07:34
to perform on the stage.
07:36
I love performing on the stage.
07:37
It's one of the best feelings in the world.
07:40
Would you allow me to become a singer like you?
07:43
Which I do.
07:43
You know, if that's what your heart really desires.
07:46
I want to have a bunch of jobs.
07:48
I want to have, like, a gymnast, a singer, a dancer, and a basketball player, and a football
07:54
player, a girls' football player.
07:56
How are you going to have time to do all that?
07:57
Ref, and, um, for football.
08:00
Can I ask you a question, Sienna?
08:01
Yeah.
08:02
How are you going to have time to do all that?
08:03
That's six things.
08:04
Every day.
08:05
Every day.
08:06
What advice do you have for somebody who wants to be an entertainer like you?
08:10
I would say always follow your dream.
08:12
Yeah.
08:13
Good, good, good.
08:14
Yeah.
08:14
Good, good.
08:14
Always follow your dream.
08:16
Make sure you do this because you love it.
08:17
Yeah.
08:18
And I would say, listen.
08:20
And practice makes perfect.
08:21
Practice makes perfect.
08:22
I think that's great.
08:23
And, like, you know, you've been a practicing for, like, 25 years.
08:26
Am I right?
08:26
A little more than that.
08:27
25?
08:28
Something like that, yeah.
08:29
25 years.
08:30
Yeah.
08:30
Because there was a part before the world knew me.
08:32
But I would say that, yeah.
08:33
Practice makes perfect.
08:34
How many songs have you made?
08:36
I don't even know, Cece.
08:37
We've got to count that after.
08:38
But you should look that up on your phone.
08:39
How many songs have Ciara made on all her albums?
08:42
Okay, we'll look it up at the end.
08:43
What's the next question?
08:45
Is there a genre of music that you would like to tackle someday?
08:50
You know what I want to do is Latina.
08:52
Latino music.
08:53
Wait, what does that sound like?
08:54
I want to, like, do Spanish.
08:55
I want to sing in Spanish.
08:57
Like, work with an artist like Bad Bunny.
08:59
Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny.
09:01
Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny.
09:03
Remember that?
09:07
So good, right?
09:09
What do you love most about our family?
09:16
I love how we love each other.
09:18
I love when we get together and have fun.
09:21
I love when we ride to school together.
09:23
When we get to talk about things, you know, why we feel so blessed.
09:27
What is your favorite thing that you and I do together?
09:30
Uno?
09:31
Gymnastics?
09:32
I love Uno.
09:33
I love Uno.
09:34
I love going to Disney together.
09:37
Yeah, Disney.
09:38
And Tron.
09:39
Tron is the best.
09:40
I love riding Tron together.
09:42
I do.
09:42
We love that.
09:43
It's, like, so amazing.
09:45
Like, the bomb.
09:46
Yeah, and, like, when is I'm missing out.
09:48
Yeah, when, he does, he do be missing out.
09:51
Yeah, and he.
09:51
Really, when might try it.
09:52
It's Future who's kind of, like, not, he doesn't like to try the rides as much as we do.
09:56
Yeah, but he likes Tron.
09:57
Yeah, we all love Tron.
09:58
Like, and me and you.
10:00
Oh, you know what else I love doing together?
10:01
Right.
10:01
I love doing makeup together.
10:03
Yeah, makeup.
10:04
And I love to shop in your room for makeup.
10:07
Yeah.
10:08
It's, like, my favorite thing to do in your room.
10:12
And, Mom, you said we could have a sleepover soon.
10:14
What is that?
10:14
I knew that was coming.
10:15
We will have a slumber party soon.
10:16
You've been working for over 20 years.
10:19
Do you have a standout career moment?
10:22
One of my coolest things in my career, I would say, was winning a Grammy.
10:25
It's definitely a prestigious one.
10:27
But, you know what else is really cool for me, and I would say it might even be even cooler,
10:31
is starting my own record label.
10:33
Being able to make my own music and own all of my music.
10:38
And being able to run my label exactly how I want to.
10:44
That, I would say, might just be even cooler than winning an award like that.
10:49
Do you have a career bucket list that you want to achieve?
10:53
A career bucket list?
10:54
I want to do a world tour.
10:56
Oh, like, yeah?
10:57
I've never done a proper world tour.
10:58
I did a tour in America last time.
11:00
It was me and Auntie Missy and Busta.
11:02
You know what's really fun about going on tour?
11:04
It was really fun taking you and all my babies with me.
11:06
That was the best.
11:07
But I want to do a world tour.
11:08
That's my goal.
11:09
Like, around the whole world?
11:11
Whole world.
11:11
I want to travel to Asia.
11:12
Even China?
11:13
Europe, Australia.
11:14
China?
11:15
Europe, yep.
11:16
China, Japan, Korea.
11:18
Last question.
11:20
What's next for your career that you're excited about?
11:24
Next for my career I'm excited about?
11:27
Finishing the album?
11:29
Well, this whole thing is about the album.
11:32
I would say taking this album on tour.
11:35
That's what I'm excited about.
11:37
Is it going to have Drop Your Love?
11:39
It is.
11:39
Drop your love, baby.
11:42
It's one of our favorites.
11:43
Can I ask you a question, Cece, about that song?
11:47
Did you have fun coming up on the stage and dancing on tour to that song?
11:51
Yeah.
11:52
That was fun, right?
11:52
Thanks for talking with me, Mom.
11:54
How did I do?
11:55
I thought you were outstanding.
11:57
You were so much fun.
11:59
Because you know what?
12:00
Because you're my little Cece, you have the inside scoop to stuff.
12:03
So I love that we got to do this together because this is very special.
12:09
I've never been interviewed by you before.
12:11
This is the first time right here on Billboard Family.
12:13
Have you done it with my future?
12:14
It's pretty cool.
12:15
I don't even think I've done an interview with the future before.
12:17
You're the first one of all your siblings.
12:19
And a dad?
12:20
I've done an interview with a dad before.
12:21
Come on.
12:23
Well, dad said this is a cowboy because he's your holiday.
12:25
So, yeah, you were the first one of your siblings to interview mommy.
