00:00What was inspiring you while creating this music?
00:04What's that?
00:06What was inspiring you?
00:08Was it like a life?
00:09Was it God?
00:11No Skida, you don't need to hear no romances.
00:14You need to hear the dancing songs.
00:15Let's hear the romances!
00:17Would you ever want to work on music with Dad?
00:20No.
00:21No thank you.
00:22Dad is crazy.
00:23His singing's a little off.
00:25Oh, Cece!
00:26Seriously, I'm telling you!
00:28Dad's gonna see this.
00:29Some of my favorites are people like Auntie Missy, Missy Elliott.
00:32Missy Elliott!
00:42Hi, I'm Sienna.
00:43Today I'm interviewing my mom, Sierra, for Billboard Family.
00:49I'm so happy to be doing this with you,
00:52because this is Big C.C. and Lil C.C.
00:55Right?
00:56And we always have the best times together.
00:58We're releasing a new album.
01:01When did you start working on this new music?
01:03I actually started working on this like in the middle of the pandemic.
01:07So it's been a long time, you know, back in the COVID days.
01:09Remember we were like in the house and like just...
01:12Were you still working on it?
01:14I was.
01:15Since COVID?
01:16Uh-huh.
01:17It's been a long time coming with this project.
01:20Um, so I like to say it's a labor of love because I put a lot of time into it.
01:25So like, how many songs are in your album?
01:28Um, there are 14 songs.
01:30And it took you that long for just 14?
01:33I thought there would be like 300 then.
01:36Well, because this is what happened.
01:37So when I was making this project, I started then.
01:40But then over time, more songs came in.
01:43And then over time, I also put some of the songs out.
01:45So you know Mommy's song, How We Roll?
01:46Oh yeah.
01:47Remember I put that song?
01:48That's just how we roll.
01:49Yeah.
01:50How we roll.
01:51That's just how we roll.
01:52Oh yeah.
01:55So there were songs like that.
01:57And that song, like we know, is now gold.
01:59Yeah.
02:00So there were songs like that.
02:01But I wanted to make this project as a gift to my fans.
02:04You know Mommy's fans.
02:05And they go, hey Sierra, we love you.
02:07Those amazing people have, all my fans have supported me for so long.
02:13And I just wanted to say thank you to them for supporting me.
02:16So that's what this project is really about for me.
02:18It's about saying thank you to my fans.
02:20It's a gift of appreciation for all their love and support they give me.
02:23What was inspiring about you while creating this music?
02:28I was inspired.
02:29What's that?
02:30What was inspiring you?
02:32Was it like a life?
02:33Was it God?
02:34And was it romance?
02:36Okay.
02:37Love.
02:38Can I answer the question?
02:40Okay, yes.
02:41It was a lot of that.
02:43I always get inspired by life.
02:44And I always get inspired by all the feelings that I'm feeling.
02:49And for this project, I was in a very, very happy place.
02:54You know, like I mentioned, being in COVID, that was crazy.
02:57But I still let music allow me to have a lot of fun.
03:00I let music take me to a happy place.
03:02Also to, again, thinking about my day one fans that have been supporting me since the very beginning.
03:07Which is me.
03:08They really inspired me.
03:09I'm a fan.
03:10Yeah, you are.
03:11I'm your number one fan.
03:12Aww.
03:13Do you have a favorite memory from making this album?
03:16Favorite memory?
03:17You know what I would say?
03:18I would say watching you come in the room and dance to the music was really sweet.
03:22Do you have a favorite song on the album?
03:25I don't know if I have one favorite song.
03:27So, no?
03:28Okay.
03:29Yeah, I think that...
03:30What is your creative song?
03:31Wait, wait, wait.
03:32Hold on the answer.
03:33Hold on.
03:34One of my favorite songs.
03:35This is my first...
03:36The first song that opens up the album.
03:37It's called Made It.
03:38Made It?
03:39Yeah.
03:40I love that song.
03:41Yeah.
03:42You actually have heard it, but a while ago you heard it.
03:43I'll play it for you again.
03:44What is your creative progress when creating a new project?
03:49Oh, my creative process?
03:52I get inspired by life, honestly.
03:54And you know what I do?
03:55Sometimes I can turn the music on and let the music take me to a special place.
03:59Sometimes I'm cruising in my car and I get an idea that comes to my mind.
04:03I go to the studio right away.
04:05It's a combination of all things in life that inspire me with my music.
04:08The next one, let me guess.
04:09What's that?
04:10Would you ever want to work on music with Dad?
04:12No.
04:13No, thank you.
04:14Dad is crazy.
04:15His singing's a little off.
04:17Oh, Cece.
04:18Seriously, I'm telling the truth.
04:20Dad is going to see this.
04:21He's like, hey, hey, ah, ah, ah.
04:25Sienna.
04:26Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
04:27Oh my gosh.
04:28Dad is going to see this?
04:29Okay, but I'm just kidding.
04:31He's like, oh yeah.
04:33Oh, now she flipped it?
04:35Oh yeah.
04:36Oh yeah.
04:37Okay, but want to make a song with Dad?
04:38Want to make a song with Dad?
04:39Yeah.
04:40Probably no.
04:41So, I think it is best that Dad plays football and Mommy does music.
04:44I think so.
04:45Yes.
04:46Great idea.
04:47If you and dad created a song, what would it be called and what would the vibe be?
04:52Okay, let me guess.
04:53Love and romance.
04:55Why do you guess that would be the vibe?
04:56Because you guys are married.
04:58Like, seriously.
05:00Wedding ring.
05:01Yes, we are married.
05:02I would call the song Blessed.
05:03You know why?
05:04Oh, yeah, because you're blessed.
05:05That's right.
05:06You're such a great dancer.
05:08Do you ever think how the choreography of a song would go while creating it?
05:14Well, with the choreography of a song, I do.
05:17I always think of how I'm going to move to the song.
05:19And sometimes when I'm in the studio.
05:21Sometimes you're going to be like.
05:24Hmm?
05:25Exactly.
05:26When I'm in the studio, Mama, I dance to the music because it kind of gets me inspired that way.
05:31And then I am.
05:32I'm always thinking of the moves I want to do to my song.
05:35So, yeah, I do get inspired with how I want to dance to my songs when I'm making them.
05:40Is there any collaborations that you could tease in this new album?
05:44You know, so for this album, I'm super excited.
05:48I'm going to be working with Jazzy Faye.
05:50And it's been a long time since we've worked together.
05:52And also Lotto.
05:53So, that's one of my favorite tragedy albums.
05:56Am I going to get to see her?
05:58I think so.
06:00We'll make it happen.
06:04Girl's greedy.
06:06Ay.
06:06Ay.
06:07Ay.
06:08Ay.
06:08You have a favorite calibration that you have done in your career?
06:13In my career?
06:14Just say no.
06:15Because you don't like them equally.
06:15I know.
06:16That's really hard.
06:17You like them equally though.
06:18You should like them equally.
06:20I know.
06:21I think you're right.
06:22But I will try to say some of my favorite.
06:23Can I say some of my favorite ones?
06:24But they're all your favorites.
06:26So, just say some of them.
06:26But some of them.
06:27Just some of the people.
06:29Okay.
06:29Because they're all your favorite.
06:30And I know you.
06:31Yeah.
06:31Okay.
06:32So, some of my favorites are people like Auntie Missy.
06:34Missy Elliott.
06:35Missy Elliott!
06:36And then, I also, I love my song that I did on this project with Chris Brown.
06:50Chris Brown.
06:51I think me and Ludacris.
06:57How is creating this album different from your past ones?
07:01The way this project is different from my other projects, I would say, I don't know.
07:06This is now my 20, this is 21 years after my first album.
07:10Maybe it's more so my intentionality.
07:12Like, I'm very, very intentional about making this project for my fans.
07:17And I do think that's one of the things that sets it apart.
07:21It's really, really, really a special, extra special gift for my fans.
07:25And me.
07:26Yes.
07:26Mostly me.
07:28What is your favorite part about your job?
07:29Man, you know, my favorite part about my job is I get to travel the world and I get
07:34to perform on the stage.
07:36I love performing on the stage.
07:37It's one of the best feelings in the world.
07:40Would you allow me to become a singer like you?
07:43Which I do.
07:43You know, if that's what your heart really desires.
07:46I want to have a bunch of jobs.
07:48I want to have, like, a gymnast, a singer, a dancer, and a basketball player, and a football
07:54player, a girls' football player.
07:56How are you going to have time to do all that?
07:57Ref, and, um, for football.
08:00Can I ask you a question, Sienna?
08:01Yeah.
08:02How are you going to have time to do all that?
08:03That's six things.
08:04Every day.
08:05Every day.
08:06What advice do you have for somebody who wants to be an entertainer like you?
08:10I would say always follow your dream.
08:12Yeah.
08:13Good, good, good.
08:14Yeah.
08:14Good, good.
08:14Always follow your dream.
08:16Make sure you do this because you love it.
08:17Yeah.
08:18And I would say, listen.
08:20And practice makes perfect.
08:21Practice makes perfect.
08:22I think that's great.
08:23And, like, you know, you've been a practicing for, like, 25 years.
08:26Am I right?
08:26A little more than that.
08:2725?
08:28Something like that, yeah.
08:2925 years.
08:30Yeah.
08:30Because there was a part before the world knew me.
08:32But I would say that, yeah.
08:33Practice makes perfect.
08:34How many songs have you made?
08:36I don't even know, Cece.
08:37We've got to count that after.
08:38But you should look that up on your phone.
08:39How many songs have Ciara made on all her albums?
08:42Okay, we'll look it up at the end.
08:43What's the next question?
08:45Is there a genre of music that you would like to tackle someday?
08:50You know what I want to do is Latina.
08:52Latino music.
08:53Wait, what does that sound like?
08:54I want to, like, do Spanish.
08:55I want to sing in Spanish.
08:57Like, work with an artist like Bad Bunny.
08:59Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny.
09:01Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny.
09:03Remember that?
09:07So good, right?
09:09What do you love most about our family?
09:16I love how we love each other.
09:18I love when we get together and have fun.
09:21I love when we ride to school together.
09:23When we get to talk about things, you know, why we feel so blessed.
09:27What is your favorite thing that you and I do together?
09:30Uno?
09:31Gymnastics?
09:32I love Uno.
09:33I love Uno.
09:34I love going to Disney together.
09:37Yeah, Disney.
09:38And Tron.
09:39Tron is the best.
09:40I love riding Tron together.
09:42I do.
09:42We love that.
09:43It's, like, so amazing.
09:45Like, the bomb.
09:46Yeah, and, like, when is I'm missing out.
09:48Yeah, when, he does, he do be missing out.
09:51Yeah, and he.
09:51Really, when might try it.
09:52It's Future who's kind of, like, not, he doesn't like to try the rides as much as we do.
09:56Yeah, but he likes Tron.
09:57Yeah, we all love Tron.
09:58Like, and me and you.
10:00Oh, you know what else I love doing together?
10:01Right.
10:01I love doing makeup together.
10:03Yeah, makeup.
10:04And I love to shop in your room for makeup.
10:07Yeah.
10:08It's, like, my favorite thing to do in your room.
10:12And, Mom, you said we could have a sleepover soon.
10:14What is that?
10:14I knew that was coming.
10:15We will have a slumber party soon.
10:16You've been working for over 20 years.
10:19Do you have a standout career moment?
10:22One of my coolest things in my career, I would say, was winning a Grammy.
10:25It's definitely a prestigious one.
10:27But, you know what else is really cool for me, and I would say it might even be even cooler,
10:31is starting my own record label.
10:33Being able to make my own music and own all of my music.
10:38And being able to run my label exactly how I want to.
10:44That, I would say, might just be even cooler than winning an award like that.
10:49Do you have a career bucket list that you want to achieve?
10:53A career bucket list?
10:54I want to do a world tour.
10:56Oh, like, yeah?
10:57I've never done a proper world tour.
10:58I did a tour in America last time.
11:00It was me and Auntie Missy and Busta.
11:02You know what's really fun about going on tour?
11:04It was really fun taking you and all my babies with me.
11:06That was the best.
11:07But I want to do a world tour.
11:08That's my goal.
11:09Like, around the whole world?
11:11Whole world.
11:11I want to travel to Asia.
11:12Even China?
11:13Europe, Australia.
11:14China?
11:15Europe, yep.
11:16China, Japan, Korea.
11:18Last question.
11:20What's next for your career that you're excited about?
11:24Next for my career I'm excited about?
11:27Finishing the album?
11:29Well, this whole thing is about the album.
11:32I would say taking this album on tour.
11:35That's what I'm excited about.
11:37Is it going to have Drop Your Love?
11:39It is.
11:39Drop your love, baby.
11:42It's one of our favorites.
11:43Can I ask you a question, Cece, about that song?
11:47Did you have fun coming up on the stage and dancing on tour to that song?
11:51Yeah.
11:52That was fun, right?
11:52Thanks for talking with me, Mom.
11:54How did I do?
11:55I thought you were outstanding.
11:57You were so much fun.
11:59Because you know what?
12:00Because you're my little Cece, you have the inside scoop to stuff.
12:03So I love that we got to do this together because this is very special.
12:09I've never been interviewed by you before.
12:11This is the first time right here on Billboard Family.
12:13Have you done it with my future?
12:14It's pretty cool.
12:15I don't even think I've done an interview with the future before.
12:17You're the first one of all your siblings.
12:19And a dad?
12:20I've done an interview with a dad before.
12:21Come on.
12:23Well, dad said this is a cowboy because he's your holiday.
12:25So, yeah, you were the first one of your siblings to interview mommy.
