00:00Human stupidity, often more dangerous than evil itself, becomes an enemy
00:16complex and difficult to combat. Unlike evil, which can be exposed, denounced
00:22and even defeated by force or resistance, stupidity is an immune opponent
00:27to those methods. When we face malice, there always remains a spark of conscience, a
00:33inner restlessness that generates resistance. However, in the face of stupidity, we find ourselves
00:39unarmed. Neither the most logical arguments nor the most obvious facts can pierce
00:44the barrier that stupidity raises. Stupid people, unlike malicious people,
00:50They do not react with reflection, but with an imperturbable tenacity that, in the face of contradiction,
00:55clings even more to its error. The great danger of stupidity lies in its ability to
01:09reject reason and facts. Often, stupid people are not only incapable
01:15of accepting evidence that contradicts their beliefs, but also, in their security and complacency,
01:20become aggressive and dangerous when challenged. In this sense, they represent
01:26a greater risk than those who are left over with evil, since it is more difficult to counteract stubbornness
01:31blind than conscious manipulation. But what is behind stupidity? It is important
01:37understand that it is not simply an intellectual defect. Stupidity, as a characteristic
01:43human, it does not only have to do with a lack of intelligence. There are people of
01:49great intellectual capacity that can be incredibly stupid in certain contexts,
01:53and vice versa, people with limited intellectual capacity who show great
01:57common sense. This suggests that stupidity is not an inborn defect, but can be induced
02:03due to external factors, such as the social and political circumstances that surround us. Loneliness
02:09and isolation seem, to some extent, to protect people from falling into stupidity.
02:14Those who stay away from the masses and think independently are less exposed
02:19to succumb to external influences that foster collective stupidity. On the contrary,
02:25Individuals who are forced to socialize in group contexts tend to develop
02:29This defect is more common. In this sense, stupidity seems to have a root
02:35more sociological than psychological. It is fascinating to observe how power, both political and
02:40religious, tends to amplify stupidity. When a person or group accumulates power,
02:46needs the stupidity of others to maintain its dominance. This process does not involve
02:52that people's intellect is not directly weakened, but their ability to think
02:56independently is undermined. Under the influence of power, people give up
03:02to their mental autonomy and become mere tools, unable to see the evil that
03:06may be perpetuating. At this point, it is crucial to emphasize that stupidity cannot be
03:12fight with arguments. It's not a lack of information or education, but a state
03:18mental state in which the person has been trapped by ideas and prejudices that deprive him of his freedom
03:22of thought. When trying to reason with a stupid person, we are not dealing with a
03:27open mind, but with one that has been colonized by empty slogans and slogans. It is in this rigidity
03:34where the real danger of stupidity lies, it cannot be corrected, it cannot be illuminated with
03:39the truth. However, there is hope. Although stupidity is resistant to logic,
03:46is not invulnerable to liberation. Only an act of liberation, not of instruction,
03:52can break the spell that stupidity has cast over a person. And this liberation cannot be
03:57simply internal, must be preceded by an external release, a change in circumstances
04:02that allows people to regain their independence and autonomy. Stupidity is not a defect
04:08insurmountable, nor a permanent condemnation. It all depends on whether those in power prefer
04:14rely on the stupidity of the masses or their ability to think independently.
04:19In the end, as biblical wisdom reminds us, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
04:25Internal liberation, the recovery of our autonomy and responsibility, is the key to overcoming
04:31stupidity that threatens to destroy us. These reflections not only alert us to the
04:36dangers of stupidity, but they also console us, reminding us that most of the
04:40People are not stupid under all circumstances. It all depends on the conditions under which they are
04:47find and whether, as a society, we promote independence of thought or encourage
04:51collective ignorance.
