00:00So basically under new proposals Glasgow City Council has suggested turning this
00:05part of Argyll Street into a road for buses to go down to reduce traffic on
00:11Ingram Street. So we have come to Argyll Street to ask the public what they think.
00:16Right now this area of Argyll Street in the city centre is completely
00:20pedestrianised, it has been for years. So we're finding out what people think,
00:24whether they think it's a good idea.
00:26Well, I think it's bad enough just now with bikes coming along it, you know, these motorised bikes.
00:33So it'll be a lot worse with buses coming along it. I mean, why now?
00:38You know, it's been like this for years. So I think it's a detrimental state back.
00:44Crazy. That's mad. It's absolutely mad.
00:47I don't know, I could like it, but it's good fun walking down this street.
00:50It's a good street to walk down.
00:52It sounds rather weird saying that it's rather nice walking down it, but it's just more accessible than it.
00:56And Carbjie's, like, Carbjie's walking down, it's quite healthy.
01:00I think, but, yeah.
01:02It's just a lot of crazy people about. I know it's spoiled, isn't it?
01:05Yeah.
01:05No?
01:07That's all I can say about that. I don't want to get into it, so I need to know.
01:11I'll kind of spoil the road a bit.
01:13I don't see Argyll Street, you know, and things, but I don't see any harm.
01:17I don't know if it's just buses. I don't know what to punish you.
01:22Well, it's basically the same thing, aye. It's a good street.
01:24There's obviously a lot of shops that I had to walk down.
01:28It'd be better off just as a street than it would be for buses coming down.
01:32I think it lends the community spirit, really, because people, you know, who are by it
01:38can have retail and can buy things from the shops, but also there's seats,
01:43as there are seats here on Buchanan Street, so it would help for people to be able to
01:51have retail therapy, but also a place to relax as well on the seats and on the benches.
01:55Whereas if they had roads there, it would, you know, it means that people are able to sit
02:00and just, if a friend or they would sit and have lunch, they'd be able to sit and have lunch and
02:06converse with each other. Whereas if lots of traffic's passing that way, it'd be harder to hear.
02:10So from that point of view, it would really, yeah.
02:13Obviously, it could cause more accidents, you know, especially as a lot of children come along
02:18this way, could be running and running in front of us.
02:21It's not, it's not the best idea, I don't think, to have roads, roads at some places,
02:26but maybe not, not in the city centre, especially when there's a lot of shops here.
02:31If I was the boss and the sider, I would just leave it as it is,
02:35because it's a gale street and it's a good street, you know, and if there's buses to come down,
02:40it would cut half of the road off, wouldn't it?
02:44Are there any areas in the city that you ever could do with some work,
02:47that you've like, just noticed yourself?
02:50Up in Socky Hulsey, there's a lot, I like shops shutting down,
02:53they could put something up there to make, put something up there today, another park,
02:58because I don't know something.
