Today we ask locals: Do you think the older generation is being left behind by modern technology? Is it making life harder or cutting them off from parts of society?

00:00I agree. It needs to be a slower transition.

00:04I don't find it easy, but I forced myself to do some things.

00:09But there are some things that I still find really difficult.

00:12I have a brother, this 81, who lives in a community with people his own age.

00:18And they're all told to access the doctor online, make an appointment online.

00:23They can't do it. They get sent text messages.

00:25Many, many people don't know what's going on.

00:31They hit the wrong key, as I do sometimes.

00:35And it would be nice to have phones that were a lot simpler.

00:42I mean, I used email from its outset because I worked at university.

00:46But a lot of the technology now has moved on so swiftly

00:50that it's just impossible to keep up to date with it.

00:55I mean, I think even some youngsters have really difficult to keep up.
