00:00They must be up to no good! Arcanine! Flamethrower!
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 mistakes left in the Pokemon anime.
00:15Both of Ash's Pokemon are water types and they're totally weak against fire type!
00:20Number 10, Zubat carries Squirtle
00:23For many of us, the original Pokemon opening theme is something that'll be ingrained into our brains forever.
00:29But there's one very strange oversight that's left us scratching our heads.
00:39Towards the end of the song, there's a moment where Pikachu rides on the top of Pidgeotto,
00:44Bulbasaur has his vines wrapped around Butterfree,
00:47and Zubat is just, well, carrying Squirtle somehow despite having no arms.
00:53We'd say that Zubat is pretty strong for carrying a Pokemon twice their size.
01:00But how exactly is he holding on to Squirtle?
01:03Perhaps the two found some incredibly adhesive double tape.
01:069. Team Rocket's Terrible Pokemon Knowledge
01:18Pokemon's epic debut on the big screen had quite a few errors here and there,
01:24but this was probably one of the most glaring ones.
01:27After Team Rocket somehow find themselves in Mewtwo's cloning room,
01:31the computer screen starts showing silhouettes of all the Pokemon going through the process.
01:36When Scyther pops up, the two proudly proclaim it's Alakazam,
01:41despite the Pokemon looking nothing alike.
01:44Now, Team Rocket aren't exactly the brightest out there,
01:51so you could argue that they're likely to make this sort of mistake.
01:55So, we guess this is one mistake that kinda worked out in the end.
02:048. Baby Nidoqueen
02:07First appearing in Mewtwo Strikes Back,
02:09the cloned Nidoqueen makes a reappearance in the sequel movie, Mewtwo Returns.
02:15What's absolutely bizarre about this scene is that Nidoqueen has offspring,
02:20tiny little baby Nidoqueen.
02:28Why is this such a big error, you might ask?
02:31Well, first of all, Nidoqueen is part of a group of Pokemon that do not have the ability to breed.
02:37The air, the food and the water are all natural.
02:40Secondly, even if Nidoqueen did have this ability,
02:44its offspring would be Nidoran, not the last member of the evolutionary line.
02:49Perhaps something went strangely wrong during Mewtwo's cloning process.
02:53Aren't they simply adorable?
02:567. Venonat is not a Bug-type, according to Misty.
03:01Misty's phobia of Bug-type Pokemon was well established all the way back in the third episode,
03:07when Ash caught a Pokemon for the first time, Caterpie.
03:11Her fear is on display in full force once again in the episode,
03:15Tracy gets bugged after a wild pincer suddenly pops out of the bushes.
03:20Immediately following this scene, the gang discusses what a good team Tracy's Meryl and Venonat are,
03:31only for Misty to make this weird proclamation.
03:34We're not exactly sure how on earth she made this mistake,
03:40considering Venonat has all the key features any sort of bug would have,
03:44including its big compound eyes and long antennae.
03:48But if this is a coping mechanism against her phobia,
03:51then we guess we'll just let her get away with it.
03:546. Ash forgets coughing
03:59Ash's adventure lasted well over a thousand episodes,
04:03so we can't blame the ten-year-old for forgetting some of the many Pokemon he encountered.
04:08But honestly, this one kind of stings.
04:11In the episode, Rocking the Verbang Gym, Ash meets Roxy, who has a coughing by her side.
04:17Ash immediately takes out his Pokedex as though he's encountered this Pokemon for the first time,
04:28forgetting that he encountered James' countless times in the original series.
04:34Now, we can forgive the show for explaining recurring Pokemon over the years,
04:39and a good chunk of the audience is often too young to have seen everything.
04:43But in this particular case, it made Ash look like he had the memory of a Goldeen.
04:485. PokeRap Blunder
04:52Back in the original season of Pokemon, the early episodes would close with the iconic and ever-catchy PokeRap.
05:00It was actually a great lesson for all of us Pokebeginners who were still learning all the names to all of these creatures.
05:07Unfortunately, there were two glaring mistakes within the song.
05:11When Poliwag shows up, the singer brazenly mentions Poliwrath.
05:20You could just overlook this as a minor mistake, but they make yet another mistake by calling Geodude Graveler.
05:31There were only 151 Pokemon back then, so we can only imagine how many mistakes they would make if the PokeRap was sung today.
05:40We know it's hard to keep up with all the Pika clones that keep popping up in every new iteration of the Pokemon game series, but this mishap certainly takes the cake.
05:59In the fifth episode of the Sun and Moon series titled, Yo Ho Ho Go Publio, the titular Pokemon displays its balloon skills to everyone.
06:12As Ash gets caught in it, at the very bottom of the screen, you can see that Togedemaru has been miscolored as Pikachu.
06:20This is despite the fact that Pikachu is already in the same scene.
06:28This error would later be corrected in the English dubbed version, but for a short time, you could have claimed that this was some rare regional Togedemaru variant that just so happened to swim into this very shot.
06:41Number 3, Bulbasaur uses Whirlwind
06:50In the episode, A Ninja Poke Showdown, Ash battles it out against Aya and her Venonat, sending out his Bulbasaur.
06:58Bulbasaur, I choose you!
07:04Bulbasaur!
07:05During the showdown, the Ninja Girl tells her Pokemon to use Stun Spore.
07:10Ash counters by telling his Bulbasaur to use Whirlwind, a move that he cannot legally learn.
07:20Apparently, this was also a dubbing error, as in the original version, Ash told Bulbasaur to just blow it away.
07:28While not exclusive, Whirlwind is often a move associated with Pokemon with wings, so seeing Bulbasaur pull this off was bizarre to say the least.
07:38Number 2, Double Pikachu
07:42In the Diamond and Pill episode, Regaining the Home Advantage, Dawn sends out Mamoswine to battle against a rampaging Metagross.
07:51This scene is notorious due to the fact that Ash mistakenly has not just one, but two Pikachu with him.
08:01One on his shoulder, and one standing on the ground.
08:06To make matters even worse, there's an animation issue where it appears as though the gang's feet are merging into the sidewalk.
08:14Now, we can't explain that error, but perhaps the second Pikachu is the clone from the Mewtwo movie.
08:21Or maybe there's always been a second Pikachu, and we just didn't notice.
08:26Yeah! What do you say, buddy?
08:28Pikachu!

08:45Number 1, Arbok evolves into Ser Viper.
08:49Apparently.
08:50As the Pokemon series went on, the show tried to spice up the original Who's That Pokemon with a trainer's choice segment.
08:58Here, we'd be treated to a sort of trivia game with multiple choices.
09:02The segment in A Fan with a Plan, however, left a lot of Pokemasters scratching their heads when it asked what evolves into Ser Viper.
09:11Straighteners! Which one of these Pokemon evolves into Ser Viper?
09:15This was already a huge mistake as Ser Viper doesn't evolve from anything.
09:21To make this segment even worse, the answer was presented as Arbok.
09:26Who has absolutely no ties to Ser Viper and instead evolves from Ekans.
09:31Okay, trainers. If you chose Arbok, you were right!
09:35Chalk!
09:36We hope nobody took this segment seriously.
09:39Otherwise, they'd be wasting a lot of time trying to evolve their Arbok.
09:44Are there any mistakes that only you noticed in the Pokemon anime?
09:52Let us know in those comments below!
10:14Well, yep!
