00:00In what was a slightly strange pre-season friendly, which saw Leeds United taking on their rivals Manchester United abroad, Daniel Farker was pleased with his side's performance.
00:12The Whites drew 0-0 against Manchester United in what was a slightly underwhelming game, given the magnitude of the fixture on paper, but in all honesty, with it being a pre-season friendly, it was perhaps to be expected.
00:25And when the two sides meet in the Premier League in the upcoming season, things will probably be a little bit more feisty.
00:31However, what is more important for Leeds at this stage is fitness and developing a coherent playing style ahead of the new Premier League season.
00:39And according to Daniel Farker, their head coach, they did well in this match despite not winning it.
00:44He made clear that Leeds, of course, want to win every single game that they play, and that is the mentality that he is trying to instil into his squad and the ethos he wants amongst everyone involved with the club.
00:55But he said that things were good against Manchester United.
00:59Of course, Manchester United have been busy so far this transfer window, but so have Leeds.
01:04Leeds have certainly brought in a few new faces to the club.
01:07And Farker was pleased with the way that they went about in their first real game for Leeds United.
01:13And, of course, not a competitive debut for any of these players, but certainly a debut for the club nonetheless.
01:19Leeds now very much in the midst of their pre-season, having, as I mentioned, brought in a few new faces to Elland Road.
01:26But just where they go from here still remains to be seen.
01:28Of course, they've also brought in Sean Longstaff now as well from Newcastle United.
01:33The English midfielder comes with a whole host of experience from playing at Newcastle in both the Premier League and, of course, Champions League too.
01:42He also was part of the squad that saw Newcastle break their long trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool midway through last season.
01:50So, Leeds in the middle of pre-season, but with a 0-0 draw against their rivals Manchester United.
01:56And, of course, that in itself is perhaps an odd thing to say because, of course, just how big the rivalry is between these two clubs.
02:04But that was the game itself.
02:06No goals to report on in it.
02:08But, as mentioned, Leeds certainly finding their feet early on in pre-season and showing just how capable that they could well be once the Premier League season gets underway.
02:17Now, of course, some will argue that pre-season fixtures don't really matter and that the results are irrelevant, really.
02:24But when Leeds and Manchester United come face-to-face, anything can happen.
02:28And, of course, there is still pride on the line.
02:30But let's hear now from Daniel Farker who summarised his thoughts on the match following the full-time whistle.
02:35So, yes, good, solid first test, compliments to the Leeds for a really good performance in the first game.
02:44I'm just completely happy if we win games and I also want this attitude.
02:48No, no, we're not just happy with the draw, although it was more or less a little bit of an away game against Man United.
02:54I want to win such a game.
02:55But in the last two weeks, it was more like about the physical foundations, also to integrate a few new Leeds.
03:02I think also today to find a good balance in the first and the second half to introduce some new faces,
03:09to find a good balance between having more or less experienced older players who were with us and then the new signings.
03:17I think for that was a really good first half.
03:19We had many periods where we dominated.
03:21Also possession, perhaps even the better chance in the first half.
03:24Second half, I would have preferred a bit more control and a bit more possession, but we looked so, so strong also on the counter-attack.
03:31Our setup was a bit more on counter-attack, so I would say 80 minutes was this game on a top level from our side and we had the better chances.
03:40Sadly, we didn't use one of our big chances.
03:43In the last 10 minutes, we brought also many young players in and of course for them it was perhaps even a bit too much,
03:50the first friendly of the season, to ask them also to play all together anyhow and yeah, then we had to suffer a little bit.
03:58But what I liked in the last minutes was then also that we didn't have this attitude at all, just in the friendly.
04:04It's like we wanted to take something out of this game and we put the bodies in our line and blocked the shot.
04:10We had this attitude, you know, we give our life in order to defend our own goal and this was something I like a lot and told the let's also inside also compliment for the last 10 minutes
04:21because sometimes you also have to play pragmatical and give everything to take something out of the game.
04:27So overall, I would say it was a perfect, perfect first test for us and an amazing, amazing atmosphere and also with great Leeds United support,
04:35compliments on our away supporters here in the stadium. They were amazing and for all of us a good start.
04:43All right, we'll have a good start.
