00:00In the United States, President Donald Trump's disapproval rating soared to 54% after his
00:14first six months in office amid stark threats and massive deportations.
00:17In Argentina, President Javier Milley faces negative ratings of 53% disapproval and a
00:27growing opposition.
00:34In Palestine, the United Nations reported that 69 Palestinian communities in the occupied
00:38West Bank have been displaced since 2023 due to escalating violence by Israeli settlers.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:51I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sous Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
00:57U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated his sixth month in office on his social media, yet his
01:13disapproval ratings for the first semester of his term reached 54%.
01:17Trump spent this Sunday publishing a variety of conspiratorial ideas while claiming that
01:23he had made the United States the most respected country in the world.
01:27In reality, the burden of his image, according to opinion polls, has dragged down the country's
01:31image worldwide.
01:33For example, in Mexico and Canada, they now see their neighbor as a national security and
01:37economic risk.
01:38In addition to tariffs, tax and federal cuts, and the savage hunt for migrants, the impact
01:43on individual citizens due to cuts in key programs is reflected in the overwhelming drop in the
01:48president's popularity.
01:55An Argentine president, Javier Millet, also faces negative ratings of 33% disapproval.
02:00Argentine experts say politics in the South African nation is defined by the negative and
02:05that the anti-Millet tendency has surpassed the anti-Kishnerism, which raises a little
02:10over 45%.
02:12Precisely when comparing both trends, rejection for the current president grows while rejection
02:16for Kirchnerism decreases.
02:18A Subban-Cordova firm study highlights that libertarian supporters decreased by 4.3% and opposition
02:24to liberty advances increased by 7.1%.
02:28As for the electoral data, 38.3% of those polls said they would vote again for President
02:34Millet, but 52.8% said they would use their vote against him.
02:44In Colombia, President Gustavo Petro inaugurated the 2025-2026 Plenary Congress with an assessment
02:49of the growing projects carried out during his administration.
02:52During his speech, President Petro highlighted the progress made in health and defense, celebrating
02:57the result of a public policy focused on prevention, strengthening care, and direct investment
03:03in communities.
03:05Regarding the defense sector, the head of state highlighted the process of progressive modernization
03:09of the military forces and a change in the strategic approach to the armed conflict in the country,
03:15rejecting the political and judicial persecutions suffered by the opposition sectors in previous
03:19governments.
03:26Colombia commemorated the 215th anniversary of its independence from the Spanish Empire
03:31with a military parade.
03:33From the Bay of Santa Marta, President Gustavo Petro led the military activity with more
03:37than 1,000 uniformed men and his executive cabinet.
03:40The Colombian president highlighted the struggle of the independence heroes, among them Venezuelan
03:45Simón Bolívar, who defeated the Kingdom of Spain's hegemony.
03:49The head of state said that despite political differences, a great nation, the new great Colombia
03:54can be created.
04:01And in Venezuela, National Electoral Council President Elvis Amoroso inspected the pre-delivery auditorium
04:07for voting machines as part of the schedule being implemented prior to the 2025 municipal elections,
04:11as well as the National Youth Consultation.
04:14Amoroso spoke with technicians about the audit process in addition to verifying the machine
04:19system to ensure the optimal conduct of next Sunday's elections, in which 335 mayors and
04:26more than 2,400 councillors will be elected.
04:29This audit is part of the verification of the accuracy of the right to vote, counting, transmission
04:34and totalization with the objective of ensuring the transparency and reliability of the electoral
04:39system.
04:46This audit is one of the most important, as it provides comprehensive testing of all components
04:53of the election solution.
04:59In a sample of a significant percentage of voting machines per state, selected in the production
05:10process, which contain the same configuration
05:19as those deployed in all states and municipalities of the country.
05:26In the Dominican Republic, social and feminist movements demonstrated to demand a dignified
05:31penal code free of privileges.
05:33A broad coalition of social organizations gathered in front of the National Palace to reject the
05:37penal code reform bill currently being debated by Congress, considering it a step backwards
05:43in terms of human rights and social justice.
05:46Congress denounced that the legislative proposal perpetrates privileges for political and economic
05:50sectors while criminalizing social protests and unprotecting victims of gender violence.
05:56The reform, which will be voted in second reading in the next few days, has deepened tensions
06:01between progressive sectors and conservative blocs that insist on approving it without modifications.

06:44Welcome back.
06:45In Palestine, the United Nations reported that 69 Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank
06:59have been displaced since 2023 due to escalating violence by Israeli settlers.
07:04According to a statement from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs,
07:08in Palestine, approximately 2,895 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes in the past two years.
07:15OSHA attributes this displacement to a coercive environment fostered by increasing settler violence
07:21and restrictions on access to land and resources.
07:24The report indicates that 45% of displaced families are from Ramallah, Covinerate, and seven other Covinerates.
07:33Furthermore, data from the Palestinian Authority's War and Settlement Resistance Commission
07:38reveals that more than 2,153 settler assaults took place in the first half of 2025.
07:56The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees has issued a new call for global action
08:02to address Israel's blockade of aid to the Gaza Strip.
08:05In a social media post on Sunday, UNWA chief Philip Lazzarini revealed that the agency has not been able
08:11to deliver any aid to Gaza since March 2.
08:14In this sense, Lazzarini noted that food supplies are just a few kilometers away,
08:18emphasizing that UNWA has enough reserves outside Gaza to sustain the entire population for the next three months.
08:24Lazzarini also called the situation a man-made crisis,
08:27facilitated by the impunity afforded to the Israeli regime
08:30and stressing the urgent need for political intervention to end the current starvation.
08:35It is important to note that in the last 24 hours,
08:38Gaza has reported 18 more starvation-related deaths,
08:41bringing the total since October 2023 to 83-86, including 76 children.
08:55And in Palestine, the Israeli siege and systematic use of hunger as a weapon of war
08:59has left more than 900 civilians killed, 6,011 wounded and 45 missing in the Gaza Strip.
09:05Gaza Health Ministry reported that the victims tried to get food and water in different areas
09:10of the enclave, while Israel continues with the blockade of food, medicine and international aid.
09:15They also warned that at least 17,000 infants were diagnosed with severe malnutrition,
09:20various of them under-treatment for stress and memory loss caused by hunger.
09:24Health personnel in the Gaza Strip are currently treating hundreds of people of all ages
09:28with symptoms of acute famine amid constant Israeli bombing.
09:33And human rights organizations have reported that Israel is holding over 3,600 civilians incarcerated
09:45without trial under the pretense of the Zionist regime's policy of arbitrary detention.
09:51According to the Information Office on Palestinian Prisoners,
09:54many detainees are denied access to legal defense or family visits.
09:59The report reveals that in clear violation of international law, 37% of Palestinian children
10:05arrested by the occupation forces have no formal charges or due process.
10:09Since the beginning of the genocidal aggression against Gaza in October 2023,
10:13the Israeli regime has intensified this practice, filling its prisons with Palestinian civilians
10:18in an attempt to break their resistance and consolidate its illegal occupation.
10:28And in this regard, the United Kingdom is facing a lawsuit filed by the law formed late day
10:33for refusing to transfer seriously ill Palestinian children despite the collapse of healthcare in the Gaza Strip.
10:39The complaint filed against the Interior and Foreign Ministry alleges discrimination by comparing this refusal
10:45with previous evacuations approved in other conflict areas.
10:48In this regard, the plaintiffs accused London of ignoring the absence of medical options in Gaza
10:53where the health system collapsed after months of siege and Israeli attacks.
10:57In this sense, the government must submit its formal response to the court proceedings by July 28th.
11:03In other topics in Syria, the media reported that the death toll from violence in the country rose to 1,119 in the province of Al-Zubaydah.
11:18The report detailed that 289 civilians have died amid the escalation of violence,
11:23as well as 427 fighters of the self-defense units died defending the region.
11:27Casualties among Syrian forces totaled 394, including members of the Defense Ministry Special Forces,
11:33pro-government militiamen from Arab tribes and members of the internal security forces.
11:38The clashes reflect the complex situation in the area where armed groups have intensified their attacks
11:43during a serious humanitarian crisis.
11:46The Iran resumes talks with the European Troika focused on the nuclear agreement.
11:58The Iran agreed to resume nuclear talks with the United Kingdom, France and Germany,
12:02in a new planned round at deputy foreign ministers' level.
12:05According to the Iranian authorities, the dialogue will focus on the role of the European countries in the nuclear agreement,
12:10as well as the issue of the activation mechanism.
12:13The negotiations will also be independent from Iran's indirect talks with the United States,
12:18since the European Troika continues to be part of the nuclear agreement,
12:21and Iran demands that these countries fully comply with their commitments.
12:31And Iran and Russia will conduct joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea,
12:35strengthening strategic cooperation between both countries.
12:38Iranian media announced that the exercises will involve units of the Islamic Republic's Navy,
12:43the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, and the Russian Navy, coordinated by the Northern Iranian Fleet.
12:49They also detailed that the exercises will start this Monday and will be focused on rescue operations
12:54and maritime protection in the Caspian Sea.
12:57This military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow reflects both countries' determination to counter foreign interference
13:03and ensure stability in the region, in line with their strategic alliance against hostile Western policies.

13:50Welcome back.
13:5130 months before the general elections in Honduras, a climate of tension marked by media attacks,
13:55leaks and smear campaigns is trying to discourage the vote and disqualify candidates.
14:00Her colleague Carmen Duarte with the details.
14:02The country is facing a series of media attacks based on the leaking of audios, videos and photographs
14:12motivated by dirty electoral campaigns, that only seek to discredit political candidates at all costs, and generate uncertainty.
14:24The current situation is generating a lot of uncertainty.
14:27The various scenarios that we are seeing every day unfortunately all of them are negative
14:32are giving us the path that the people of Honduras want.
14:44What we and the majority of the people of this country want transparent and clean elections.
14:48This guarantees our democracy, guarantees the peace we are enjoying.
14:53In the middle of the cross accusations, the National Party criticizes the ruling party for the alleged use of its collectives to exert political pressure.
15:10However, the National Party itself is carrying out a strong offensive based on the dissemination of false news that polarizes even more the electoral scenario.
15:19It is obvious that if one is not afraid, one would not have to resort to violence, one would not have to resort to their collectives,
15:29one would not have to be afraid of electoral processes aimed at their verification and modernization.
15:34In this context, experts advise presidential candidates to prepare for the debates,
15:46and use digital platforms strategically, and responsibly.
15:51We have a lot of information.
15:56Young people have an incredible, incredible initiative of information,
16:01and they are very aware of the value or the positions that any presidential candidate may take in this race.
16:07Look well that not only in the television debate, a presidential debate can be carried out.
16:20There are thousands of technological ways in which the candidates can promote their different positions,
16:25and their goals to be achieved in the period that they will govern.
16:28A few months before the elections, analysts warn that dirty campaigns and media attacks could increase,
16:45affecting the credibility of the process, and weakening citizen participation at the polls.
