00:52Hello and welcome to From the South from the headquarters of Telesur English in Havana, Cuba.
00:56My name is Pablo Micheliche, we begin with the news, stay with us.
01:14The Iranian armed forces launched the 18th wave of attacks against strategic Israeli positions
01:19as part of Operation TruePromit 3 in response to the offensive launched by the Sudanese entity
01:24on June 13.
01:25The Iranian armed forces launched at least 10 missiles at strategic Israeli targets, which
01:30have caused explosions and fires in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, while sirens sounded
01:36from Netanya to Ashdod.
01:39This wave of Iranian attacks is part of the 18th wave of ballistic missiles and drone launches,
01:45and part of the Iranian defensive operation deployed in retaliation to Zionist hostilities
01:50against Iranian nuclear facilities.
01:52The Iranian response is focused on military and industrial targets in Tel Aviv, Haifa and
01:57other Israeli cities, while for the part Iranian air defenses successfully intercept Israeli targets
02:04in the skies over Tehran and Isfahan.
02:11Earlier today, images showed the military areas that were hit by Iranian missiles in the city
02:16of Beersheba, an Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory.
02:20Israeli media reported that the attack targeted the Gav Jam Negev Technology Center, an area that
02:26includes active military and cybernetic institutions.
02:30One of the projectiles landed near the Microsoft building and set off fires in the area, surprising
02:36the Israeli air defenses that failed to intercept it.
02:40Israeli media reported that at least 37 such responded.
02:48Thousands of Yemenis took to the streets of the country's major cities to demonstrate
02:52in solidarity with Iran and Palestine.
02:55Following Friday prayers, Yemenis gathered in the central squares of several cities holding
03:00signs that read, we stand with Gaza and Iran against Zionist U.S. criminality.
03:05The demonstrators recognized the effectiveness of Iran's military operations.
03:10They described these operations as a justified response to the actions of the Zionist regime
03:15of Israel.
03:16Yemenis also insisted on boycotting U.S. and Israeli products to confront the regional enemy.
03:22In this context, Beirut citizens have joined the call to condemn and reject the aggression
03:30of the Israeli occupation forces against Iran.
03:33Members of the Hezbollah resistance movement made the call around the Al-Qa'em Mosque in
03:38the southern part of the capital.
03:41Citizens reaffirmed their support for Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and
03:45urged the defense of Muslim authorities worldwide.
03:49They emphasized their respect for Iran's legitimate right to self-defense and independence and their
03:55commitment to continuing the fight against global injustice.
04:02the defense of Muslim authorities.
04:09The medical personnel in Palestine announced that the health catastrophe caused by Israel
04:22threatens the life of hundreds of babies due to the lack of supplies.
04:26Doctors at the Nasser Care Center warned that dozens of premature babies and newborns are
04:32between life and death because the necessary supplements are not available.
04:36The health workers warned that they could be forced to replace formula with intravenous solutions,
04:42which could pose serious risk to the infant's health.
04:45In this regard, they condemn the actions of the Israeli army, which has been blocking the border
04:51crossings of the territory for the path for a month.
04:55Israeli occupation forces carried out new attacks against the Palestinian people in the
05:03Gaza Strip, leaving more than 100 civilians killed in the last 24 hours.
05:08Israeli warplanes attacked the city of Ken Junis as part of the genocidal escalation that have
05:13been perpetrated against the Palestinian people for more than 20 consecutive months,
05:18and which has claimed the life of more than 55,000 Palestinians.
05:23At least 16 Palestinians died and another 100 were injured while they were waiting to
05:28receive humanitarian aid in the Nusayrat area in central Gaza.
05:32This latest attack comes while the humanitarian crisis continues to deteriorate as a result of
05:37the hostilities of the Zionist regime and the total blockade of the entry of humanitarian aid,
05:43generating serious food and medicine shortages.
05:47protesters gathered a Friday in downtown Madrid to show solidarity for Palestinians in Gaza and to call for peace.
06:07The demonstration was called by social organizations, trade unions and universities to demand a boycott against Israel
06:15and an end to relations with the Zionist state.
06:18The protesters chanted pro-Palestine slogans and held signs calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,
06:24as well as an end to Zionism and racism.
06:27The Israeli regime launched an attack on southern Lebanon Friday in violation of the ceasefire in force between both nations.
06:40The Israeli airstrikes targeted the Al-Rihan Heights, Tomat-Niha and the outskirts of Wadi Burgas in the south part of the country,
06:48as well as areas in Mahmudiyah Khatrani and the outskirts of the city of Al-Aishiyye.
06:54According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least one civilian was killed during the onslaught of the Zionist forces.
07:01Since the ceasefire agreement come into force in November 27, 2024,
07:06Israel has committed more than 3,000 violations, leaving nearly 220 dead and 508 wounded.
07:19And now we have a short break coming up.

07:30We'll see you next time.
07:56Welcome back.
08:06One of the world's most active volcanoes, Kilauea on Hawaii's Peak Island,
08:11began spewing lava from the north bend this Friday.
08:14According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory,
08:17lava fountains from the crater's north bend started around 1.40 a.m. local time
08:22and reached vast hives up to 1,000 feet into the sky.
08:26On the other hand, scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey
08:29indicated that the fountains might continue to reach even greater heights.
08:33This is the 26th episode of the ongoing eruption that began almost six months ago on December 23rd.
08:41A leaf stool death has been confirmed in Mexico after Hurricane Eric dozed the region.
08:51A one-year-old boy drowned in a swollen river in Guerrero State,
08:55and a man was electrocuted whilst helping with debris removal in Oshaka State, according to officials.
09:02Authorities reported landslides, blocked highways, downed power lines,
09:06and some flooding as coastal residents above all in Acapulco took the storm seriously
09:12with memories of the devastating hurricane Otis in 2023 still fresh in their minds.
09:18Eric wiped out power to more than 120,000 customers at one point.
09:23Restaurants, shops, and supermarkets gradually reopened in Acapulco,
09:27but schools remained closed across Guerrero on Friday
09:30as authorities continued to access damage, clear debris, and monitor rising rivers.
09:41We move on to other topics.
09:42The United States Appeals Court ruled in favor of President Donald Trump Friday,
09:46granting him control of the National Guard in the state of California.
09:49The ruling reversed a lower court order that required the President to relinquish command
09:55of the 4,000 Guardsmen deployed to contain protests in Los Angeles since June 7.
10:01This event marked the first time in 60 years that the President has ordered the deployment of the National Guard
10:07without the consent of the state governor.
10:09In a publication on his social media, the head of the state celebrated the decision as a great victory
10:15and said that if the cities and the people need protection, the government will be the one to provide it.
10:27Also in the United States, the immigration rates promoted by President Donald Trump
10:31are already beginning to be felt in that country's economy.
10:34From New York, our correspondent Henry Camelo tells us more.
10:37The manhunt that immigration raids have become in the United States are not only breaking thousands of immigrant families.
10:49They are also taking away a large part of the economy of the entire country,
10:53bringing the United States closer every day to what is already being called a recessionary mega-recession.
10:58If those who are washing dishes and cooking in all the restaurants are going to have to be United States citizens,
11:08those who wait on tables,
11:10those who pick tomatoes, corn and oranges,
11:16those who clean the vegetables,
11:18those who drive the trucks on those roads to take them to the supermarkets,
11:22If they are all going to have to be United States citizens,
11:28they will not be able to continue paying them the very low amounts they are paying the immigrants.
11:32They did not think about that.
11:34No one is going to win in this.
11:44Especially sectors such as gastronomy and construction are being hit the hardest.
11:50Business is down a lot by 50 or 60 percent or so and that's everywhere.
11:58Everywhere you go people are complaining.
12:02Immigrant seizure operations such as the one that occurred in Tallahassee, Florida,
12:09where 100 workers were arrested for ICE,
12:12along with another one that occurred in a chain of hardware stores,
12:15are leaving the construction sector paralyzed and on the verge of economic collapse.
12:19We found ourselves in one of the stores of the Home Depot chain,
12:25which are the warehouses that sell construction materials.
12:28This place has become the epicenter of the ICE raids,
12:31because everyday immigrants come here in search of work.
12:33Being deported, immigrants have stopped going to buy and offer their services to this hardware store,
12:45which has already lost 14 percent of its shares in the stock market.
12:49And the national economy is expected to shrink by up to 50 percent.
12:56But still the raids don't stop now ICE agents are hunting immigrants even in the crop fields,
13:01thus compromising the country's food supply chain.
13:03The United States has a shortage of employees, and if you eliminate 5 million, 10 million, 15 million.
13:1820 million immigrant workers who have no documentation in the United States,
13:22and you have nothing to replace them with, there is going to be a very high inflation.
13:25We have a few strong years ahead of us of not only deporting many good people that are in this country.
13:38But what is going to affect the economy in these next three years,
13:45I am really afraid that we are going to have a recession in financial terms.
13:52Despite having given a supposed pause to the immigration raids in hotels, restaurants and farm fields,
14:01Trump ordered again to resume the ICE operations in those workplaces.
14:05According to analysts, the cost benefit of the immigration raids that Donald Trump is implementing
14:10is the same that he has applied in many of his own companies.
14:13Many of them have ended up bankrupt.
14:16And we have a second short break coming up.

14:43Welcome back.
14:48In Panama, labor and social organizations keep demanding the repair of a pension regulation in the country.
15:10Trade unions stated that the march will start from Urraca Park in Panama City to Cinco de Mayo Square in the vicinity of the National Assembly,
15:20where they will present their claims.
15:22Demonstrators will also reject an agreement signed between the Molino government and the United States
15:27that allows the establishment of military bases and the entry of troops from that country.
15:32They further labelled the agreement as harmful to national sovereignty.
15:37Likewise, marchers will also denounce the persecution and imprisonment of union leaders as well as judicial and police repression of protests.
15:46The Dominican Republic began construction of the second phase of the border wall with Haiti this Friday,
15:58in a ceremony led by the Minister of Presidency and Defence in the province of Dagoban.
16:03This phase includes the construction of an additional 13 km of perimeter fence with surveillance towers and advanced technology,
16:13as part of the government's efforts to strengthen security and immigration control along the border.
16:19The project, which eventually seeks to cover approximately 170 km of the dividing line, responds to the growing concerns about illegal trafficking and instability in Haiti.
16:30Dominican authorities emphasize that the project is key to protecting national sovereignty and combating border crime
16:37amid an increase in deportations and undocumented Haitians and the humanitarian crisis in the neighboring country.
16:44This effort that we are promoting today, the second phase of the northern wall on the Dominican border with Haiti,
16:56which already has approximately 25 km duly built and erected, and will be extended another 13 km southward,
17:04makes, as General Onafri very aptly stated, a lot of strategic sense.
17:09Former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner denounced that the court intends to apply against her a totally arbitrary exclusion regime
17:21regarding the visits she can receive at her home.
17:24The former president is only allowed to receive visits prior list from her immediate family, her lawyers and her doctors.
17:32The rest of the people must submit a request to the court and then wait for authorization.
17:37In this regard, the defense attorneys filed an appeal before the court,
17:41arguing that those serving a sentence in a private home may carry out all activities that are not prohibited by law,
17:49questioning the lack of explanation as to the purpose of requiring prior authorization for the meetings.
17:55They also emphasize that the intention of the president of Brazil, Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva,
18:00to meet with the former president should not be subject to prior judicial authorization.
18:05In this regard, citizens carried out a massive rally in Lesama Park in support of former president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner,
18:17after her house arrest. Also in a recorded message, the former president criticized Patricia Bullrich
18:23and called for unity in addition to urging the militancy that supports her not to go to the surroundings of her home.
18:30As part of a comprehensive strategy of the Mexican government to combat violence through culture and to influence new narrative that exalt traditions,
18:44life and popular art, the Mexico Canta y Encanta contest advances to its next selection stage.
19:02Antonio Aranda brings us the details.
19:05Mexico Canta y Encanta es más que un concurso musical para jóvenes talentos.
19:08Mexico Canta y Encanta es más que un concurso musical para jóvenes talentos.
19:12It is a part of the comprehensive strategy to generate a culture of peace in the country.
19:17At the close of the call for entries, more than 15,000 young people from Mexico and the United States participate with teams that do not advocate violence,
19:27said the Mexican secretary of culture.
19:29From culture, this generates other creative platforms for young people to detonate talents that have not been heard,
19:40and also to bring narratives that allows these young creators to talk about other things without us having to induce what they can talk about,
19:47whatever they want, without denigrating women, without advocating violence.
19:52The second phase of the competition is the first classification,
20:00after which the finalists will be accompanied by professionals from the international music industry.
20:10365 classifieds will be announced on July 4th, the morning,
20:14and then 48 will come from the hands of industry professionals who are those who are recorded.
20:20A number of composers will participate, the most important composers of our country,
20:25who were there at the conference, and who will professionally accompany the classifieds,
20:29so that the day they present themselves, there will be a professional accompaniment.
20:39The Mexico Canta Contest also seeks to generate new talents that recover the national musical culture
20:45with messages different from the musical genre so-called corridos tumbados, that glorify violence.
20:51What has generated that the corridos tumbados, that music, is in the first places in the world is that, for example,
21:00the corridos tumbados have a mix with the urban, to which much younger generations have given a very interesting twist, mainly in the musical part.
21:08It will now be easy to promote new talents, but there is a positive attempt to renew the narratives,
21:20considers this journalist with 35 years of experience in regional Mexican music.
21:25The positive part is that a step has already been taken, because previously, we did not see this type of proposals.
21:36I think it is good that young people are invited to talk about positive things.
21:41There are important groups that have already joined this proposal.
21:44For example, one of the most popular among young people, and that is united to this proposal of Mexico Canta, is the group Firme.
21:55Sumado to the efforts to generate non-violence narratives,
22:01the sub-gender of corridos tumbados has its own wear and tear, the expert points out.
22:07I bet more on the wear and tear of the sub-gender, than on it going out of fashion.
22:16I don't want you to tell me that it doesn't have a trajectory, because the interpreters of corridos tumbados are perfect strangers,
22:23who have descended from three or four years ago.
22:26Another important objective of Mexico Canta is to generate a cultural dialogue between the youth of Mexico and the United States.
