There's been a recent tragic incident in Vietnam where a boat sank in Halong Bay during Storm Wipha, resulting in 38 deaths. The boat was carrying 53 people, mostly tourists from Hanoi, when it capsized in rough conditions on Saturday. Rescue teams worked through the night to flip the overturned boat and search for survivors, managing to rescue 11 people. Among the victims were eight children, which has intensified national sorrow over the tragedy.¹
There's also another incident involving a bulk carrier called Glengyle, which partially sank after colliding with a container ship, KMTC Surabaya, on the Long Tau River in Vietnam back in April 2025. Luckily, there were no injuries reported in that incident.² ³
