00:00Thursday, July 17th, 11.05 p.m. You can see a couple holding hands and walking their two dogs on East 14th Street in San Leandro.
00:09Four minutes later, the woman in this video was shot and killed.
00:13The victim was transported to a local area hospital. Unfortunately, she did succumb to her injuries later.
00:20Surveillance video from a bike shop in the intersection of 14th and Williams Streets captured part of the terrifying attack.
00:27The couple seen trying to run and cross the street. The woman falls to the ground.
00:32Her boyfriend runs back to help her. Their dogs surround them.
00:36In the back corner, you can see a person running to a white vehicle parked across the street and driving off.
00:42And the boyfriend trying to stop that vehicle. He was unharmed.
00:46Couldn't believe it was so close to home. Just walking her dogs innocently.
00:50San Leandro police confirmed a 21-year-old was arrested by Dublin police just before midnight Thursday in possession of a firearm and matching the description of the suspect and his car.
01:03We don't have any information in terms of motive that we're ready to release.
01:07In a statement, the police department said the suspect parked his car near the couple as they were walking their dogs.
01:13Adding, the suspect exited the vehicle and accosted the couple.
01:17After a brief interaction, the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim once in the torso.
01:24The suspect then got back into his car and fled the scene.
01:27And just last month, around 8.30 a.m., another person walking their dog around this area was also shot and killed.
01:36San Leandro police said they haven't found any connections between these homicides.
01:40I'm scared. I'm, like, kind of panicking. Like, I mean, you can even, like, go for a walk now.
01:46The homicides now leading dog owners in the area to change their routes and demand police to do more.
01:53You know, like, more security at night.
01:55This homicide case now goes to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
