00:00Sitting here training, getting ready for this upcoming fight of yours.
00:03It's going to be huge.
00:04I know you were kind of surprised from previous interviews I've watched
00:07that you even got into the tournament, given that your last fight,
00:10the first of the PFL, was a loss.
00:12But obviously, Sean, while you're in this tournament
00:14and doing great things so far in the first two fights,
00:17how have you felt through these first two fights?
00:19How are you feeling going into the finals?
00:21And what has it been like getting into this tournament format for you
00:24and doing all these three fights in five months
00:26as opposed to one every six months that you've had pretty much
00:29the last couple of years?
00:31Yeah, I felt good in the tournament.
00:33I grew up kickboxing.
00:35Kickboxing was tournament-based.
00:37So I was actually privileged to be very experienced in tournaments.
00:41Also, I'm not a fighter that gets injured ahead of a lot.
00:45I don't take much damage in training and in fights.
00:48So the tournament base, it really suits me, to be honest with you,
00:51because it allows me to have sort of a season
00:53where I can just stay in shape all the time and compete.
00:56I have been known after a fight to eat fried chicken
01:00and drink lots of beer.
01:02I'm not being able to do that.
01:04But apart from that, it's been helping my career.
01:07And in terms of how I've felt in the fights,
01:10I feel like this is the peak of my career.
01:13Something's clicked over the last year.
01:16I think it took the loss to really,
01:18for me to take a backseat on what I was doing wrong,
01:20to be honest with you.
01:21And this is me so much since that loss in November last year.
01:25And as you can see from my recent performances,
01:28I've really come into my own,
01:29and this is my time to show what I'm capable of.
01:33Yeah, obviously, you built up a great record in your time in Bellator,
01:36now transitioning over to the PFL.
01:37You've shown everybody how good you can be in these first two fights.
01:40I mean, different stylistic matchups with your opponents,
01:44but still great results for you.
01:46The first one, of course,
01:47that spinning back elbow knockout in the first round.
01:49I'm sure a lot of people might have been a little surprised,
01:52you know, that coming as fast as it did.
01:53But anybody who's watched over the years
01:55knows how you can throw these great attacks that you do.
01:58What was it like for you?
01:58Is that what you expected to be able to use that to fruition,
02:01you know, catch him when he least expected like that?
02:04I did actually, that elbow,
02:06it wasn't for when he was shooting because he was coming in,
02:09but Clay Collard in particular does this thing
02:11where he rushes in with four punches.
02:13So I did practice that elbow,
02:15but I'll be lying if I said I expected it to happen that quick
02:18and in that situation, yes.
02:22I wouldn't say it was a lucky shot,
02:24but definitely it was early on and it was nice.
02:28To be honest with you, I was just trying to run from him.
02:30I was like, get away from me.
02:31And then, yeah, sort of hit him on the way out.
02:35Well, you know, some people might say it was lucky.
02:37You wouldn't, I wouldn't.
02:38You know, like you said, you trained for that,
02:40but, you know, people, if they want to, you know,
02:42poo-poo on what you did,
02:43will say, well, let's see what he gets in there
02:44with a guy like Sprimis, you know,
02:45a guy who's going to drag him to the depths.
02:47Well, he tried to do that.
02:48And, you know, you probably made him look feeble
02:52compared to some of his past opponents.
02:53I mean, he tried to pull guard.
02:55He couldn't.
02:55Every time, you know, maybe he got in that first round,
02:57maybe the second, third round, I think it was all you.
02:59You're finding your distance.
03:00He could not get you to the ground like he wanted.
03:03And, you know, you even have a little fun with it at times,
03:05you know, doing a little bit of the, you know, the moves,
03:07you do a little dancing.
03:08As you're getting set up for the shots for him,
03:10you're definitely feeling in that one.
03:11And, you know, it went to distance.
03:12You showed against a high-level guy like that,
03:14that you can go all the way and you can stop him from his game plan.
03:17Do you think that, you know, was an even bigger, you know,
03:20stamp of what you could do in this PFL tournament?
03:24Yeah, Sprimis was, yeah, he was an amazing former champion.
03:27So to do that in the way that I did it and styling him like that,
03:32I think it shows my level in martial arts.
03:35So more of the same to come.
03:38And we're looking forward now against Robodinov.
03:40Now, obviously, you have no love lost for this guy.
03:43You know, I've seen posts, you know, you mistyping his name.
03:46You're talking about, you know, how he's enhanced,
03:48but you're better skilled.
03:49You know, is there any, there's no paths between you and this guy, right?
03:53It's just, this is where it is now and you got to hype it up.
03:56What's going on?
03:56Are you trying to get in his head?
03:59I think it's a bit of both.
04:00I think I'm just actually telling the truth.
04:03I mean, the man from the Olympics for a reason,
04:05he was a sniffer crotch wrestler for many fights.
04:08And then he started knocking people out all of a sudden.
04:11So there's definitely question marks about what he's been doing.
04:14But the reason that I'm saying that is because I want him to feel like
04:17he's got all of those advantages, but he hasn't.
04:20Like, he's not going to hit me with bombs that he's been throwing
04:24and I'm going to kick him right in the face.
