00:00It's Alex Dalziel with the Ballarat Korean newspaper. I'm here today on what would have been the eighth day of Lachlan Young's murder trial.
00:11But, as a shock to everyone, he's decided to plead guilty to the charge of murdering Hannah McGuire.
00:17It was a very packed out courtroom today. There was no seating room available and basically standing room only.
00:26When Young decided to enter his plea and you could hear a very audible shudder through the entire courtroom as he said those words.
00:38Afterwards, after he was let out of the court, Glenn and Debbie McGuire and his parents hugged each other.
00:46There were tears and the entire courtroom erupted into a pause.
00:52The parents, Justice James Elliott, dismissed the jury, thanked them for their service because they were no longer needed as Young had changed his plea.
01:04We don't know exactly when he's going to appear in court next, perhaps later this week, but now the court's making preparations for Young's eventual sentencing.
01:15It's pretty good.
01:16I appreciate it..
