WATCH: Victorian health minister Mary-Anne Thomas has spoken about the Albury-Wodonga hospital redevelopment while on the Border, with comments from Albury MP Justin Clancy and Wodonga mayor Michelle Cowan.

00:00My focus is in getting more and delivering more and better care to the people of Auburn-Wodonga and surrounds

00:07and that's exactly what this new development will do on the existing Auburn Health Precinct.

00:13What is meant for those concerns regarding not having a business base?

00:17Again, well I dispute all of that.

00:20A lot of work has been done in the lead up to both the announcement of funding

00:26which of course was announced by both the New South Wales and Victorian State Governments

00:31and the ongoing work that has been done with New South Wales Health Infrastructure

00:35to plan for the development of the hospital and I'm looking forward to that work commencing.

00:39The timeframes that I've been given have been fairly consistent, consistent with what's been reported in the Board of Mail recently.

00:45So in that regard, certainly that is, is that they are getting on with the pre-works

00:50with a view to continuing the design for the Clinical Services Building.

00:54My understanding is mid-next year they'll be looking to start the Clinical Services Building.

00:58I understand that is as it is reported in the Board of Mail.

01:02She did not raise the concerns that we're expressing.

01:05She did say quite firmly we're getting on with this.

01:10She did say that there were exciting times ahead and I strongly disagree and I did say that to her.

01:17My thoughts were that there were going to be a lot of people.

01:21Can we win a match, I hope they couldn't get on with this, but I feel, you know,

01:22if you're doing a match, you can be disappointed in the audience and that's really great.

01:25You don't have to be a match.

01:27We can be a match.
