Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) responds to Democrats walking out of today's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
Transcript
00:00Let's vote today, and I'll vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
00:04You know, Chairman Grassley had come at the very beginning, and let us know we had multiple hearings across the world.
00:09So he had given us an hour and a half to work through those things and to let people speak.
00:13So certainly I believe in everyone having an opportunity to voice their opinion and have that dialogue.
00:19I think Chairman Grassley gave that and then also cited precedent here,
00:24then when Chairman Durbin had done something very similar.
00:27So I certainly wish that they had stayed and let their voices be heard in regards to recording a vote,
00:34but that's not the pathway that we chose.
00:35Were you disappointed by them walking out of this?
00:37Yeah, absolutely.
00:39I mean, look, we kind of have a lot of tough conversations, and there's a lot of things that we don't see eye-to-eye on,
00:45but I think the best thing that we'll be doing in most circumstances is stay and work through it.
00:53And Chairman Grassley also, if you know, said, I will give you time afterwards to continue this dialogue.
00:59Do you have any good thoughts about him, and both in general, and then some of these things in his past,
01:04and going after the January 6th prosecutors are allegedly saying not to comply with the judge's orders
01:11to send the migrants down to El Salvador?
01:13Any of the stuff, can you pause about him?
01:15Yeah, so we had an opportunity, obviously with him in front of us, actually had an opportunity to question him
01:20right after Cory Booker did, and I think through that process, we got a lot of our questions answered,
01:26and he had an opportunity to tell his second story with regards to what he's out there.
01:30And with regards to what I heard and information that we were given in follow-up,
01:35I certainly feel a good one for people about that.
01:39Thank you, Kevin.
