Beyblades battle in Wolverhampton this weekend.

Smyths toy store, Wolverhampton,  is hosting a Beyblades battle this weekend, and the winner will progress to the next round in Croydon, and if they secure a win then they could be off abroad as a prize. We find out about the world of Beyblades.

00:00We're here at Smith's Toy Superstore on the Bilston Road and we're with Rich, hello sir.

00:04Hiya, you okay?

00:05Rich, I didn't know until today what Beyblades were. I do now.

00:09So they're effectively like, how can we word it, it's kind of like the robot wars of spinning tops, isn't it?

00:17Pretty much, yeah.

00:19So you've got a bit of an event coming up this weekend, I believe.

00:21Yeah, on Saturday, 9am. So as soon as the door's open, come along and then you can battle each other.

00:26There is a competition going ahead with a high score. You get a chance to go to our Croydon store in London in August to compete there as well.

00:34And whoever wins that gets a chance to go to Japan.

00:36That's not bad, is it? That's not bad, mate, yeah.

00:39So do people bring along their own Beyblades or will there be Beyblades for them to battle with?

00:45There'll be Beyblades that are available for them to play.

00:47There'll be trainees there as well who can teach them how to play if they want to just start there and then.

00:51But there will be items there for them to use anyway.

00:54So if you haven't got any Beyblades, come along, there'll be some of them already.

00:57Great stuff. And you've got plenty in store.

00:59Plenty in store, yeah.

01:00Effectively, let's just flip that. I'll grab hold of that.

01:02Flip that box around so it's like an arena, isn't it?

01:05Yeah, so you get the arena, you've got your little things here.

01:07You put your Beyblades on top, pull them, spin them, and then battle each other in the arena.

01:11And then you've got all different Beyblades, like this one here with the funky dinosaurs.

01:16They're crazy looking things.

01:18Yeah, you've got loads of different ones. You've got your different sticks, like you say.

01:21Your dinosaurs, you've got snakes, you've got all different ones.

01:23Great stuff. Well, we wish you all the best with the competition.

01:25You're going to have a dab with yourself?

01:27Might do, yeah.
