Yeah, well basically I've just been in place for a month or so at TECNOL. I'm a knife campaign
00:05
ambassador in the Staffordshire area and moving over to TECNOL from Wolverhampton where I've been
00:09
for the last 15 years or so, there's been a massive increase in antisocial behaviour and
00:15
knife crime. Obviously you must have seen in the news, in the local papers, there was a youngster
00:21
who unfortunately lost his life two weeks ago in the Wolverhampton area at West Park
00:28
and because of that obviously I thought that we've got to bring local authorities together
00:33
with the fire service and try and do something about that. So what I'm going to do at the
00:36
moment is set up a knife campaign in Wolverhampton. Like I said before, I do it in Staffordshire so
00:41
I've done various ones already so I'm quite experienced and I want to try and broaden it
00:46
and bring it into the Wolverhampton area where there's a lot of knife crime at the moment.
00:51
So I'm going to utilise my watch, West Midlands Police, the local council and my volunteers from
00:58
Staffordshire are all going to come over and put on a campaign hopefully within the next
01:03
six weeks or so. We're just in talks now for a possible venue so we'll get the venue sorted
01:08
then once the venue's sorted we're going to then obviously recruit and get as many people
01:13
from the Penderford and Whitmarines area down there because that's where there seems to be quite
01:16
a high regard of knife crime at the moment and this really does need sorting out efficiently
01:22
and quickly because there's too many people losing their lives. It seems to be the youngsters so
01:27
something else I want to do as well is maybe get into the schools especially the first year of
01:32
secondary school because it seems to be the 11 year olds, the 13 year olds that are getting affected
01:37
and being involved in the gang culture which is massive at the moment so it's something that we
01:41
all need to address and come together for this special day and try and tackle it the best way
01:46
possible.
