The House Homeland Security Committee hearing grinds to a halt when Democrats call a point of order after the Republicans' witness, Mike Howell, President of the Oversight Project, calls out their border record.

00:12minutes to summarize his opening statement. Chairman Guest, members of the
00:18committee, thank you for having me here today to testify. My name is Mike Howell
00:21and I'm the president of the Oversight Project. I'm also a visiting fellow for
00:26the Heritage Foundation and a board member at the National Immigration
00:29Center for Enforcement. I especially thank you for giving me a platform to
00:34plead with members of this body on the Democrat side to stand down on their
00:39threats against the men and women of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The
00:43violence is getting out of control and it is fueled by the demagoguery of
00:48politicians. Whether it is one of your members telling Axios that there needs to
00:52be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public, another saying
00:57civility isn't working and to prepare for violence or even a member of this
01:01committee being arrested for forcibly impeding and interfering with federal
01:05officials. This escalation deserves condemnation. It needs to stop and it
01:11needs to stop now. Assaults against ICE officers are up over eight hundred and
01:16thirty percent. And that's a lowball estimate. There have been violent
01:20incidents in Alvarado, McAllen, Portland. The gentleman's to spin briefly. Yes, so I got a
01:26point of order. Pursuant to Clause 2K8 of Rule 11, I raise a point of order that this
01:35testimony is outside the scope of the hearing. I would object to that position,
01:46Mr. Chairman. That's absurd. I would object as well. Man has a right to his five
01:51minutes of testimony. Clearly the Democrats don't want to hear truth. I
01:55object to the ranking member's ridiculous position. The point of order offered by the
02:03other ranking member is not in order. This individual has the opportunity to
02:08summarize his opening statement and the information upon which he used to form
02:13that opening statement so the objection is overruled. Mr. Chairman, if I may,
02:20obviously I'm going to appeal the ruling of the chair and ask for a vote. But again,
02:27you know, this guy has an opinion. Mr. Chairman. Wait, do you? No, I respect it. The chair has ruled that his testimony is part of the basis upon which he is briefing this committee. And it will be used to talk about his ultimate findings as it relates to the purpose of this committee. I understand your objection. The objection has been overruled. 09:21The violence, obstruction, and subversion of the United States that is emanating from
09:26so-called non-governmental organizations, unwell individuals, some probably paid,
09:32and supported by the political mainstreaming of violent rhetoric from national politicians
09:37should not come as a surprise.
09:39We saw the writing on the wall during the Biden border crisis, with the sick marriage between
09:45the government and so-called non-governmental organizations facilitating illegal immigration.
09:51If there is a witness there on that to the terrorist movement, let us be accused of compromising single- slipping
10:09by the crisis of the conservatives.
