00:00So I was going to offer an amendment, but in the spirit of the night, and not to disappoint
00:08my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, I will not do so. The amendment that I was going to
00:12offer was because there are a number of states represented in this room, both sides of the aisle,
00:17that have had to endure significant additional expenses as a result of the issue we're dealing
00:22with tonight, significant on border spending and so forth. My colleagues from Arizona,
00:26California, New Mexico, Texas, there are important issues that I think need to be dealt with that have
00:31not been dealt with yet in the judiciary product nor in the homeland security product that I think
00:36need to be addressed in the process of the reconciliation. And I just want to make sure
00:41it's clear that to all those, as we go through the reconciliation process, that that is a critical
00:46thing to do because Texas, for example, has had to spend upwards of $12 billion, $12 billion out of
00:54our own budget to deal with the crisis at the border. I know my friends from Arizona in particular
00:59have had similar experiences with the amount that they've had to deal with. And I believe this
01:05needs to be dealt with in due course over the course of the over the course of the reconciliation
01:10process. I appreciate the indulgence of the chairman.
