Many parents and grandparents say the cost of keeping kids busy over summer is rising fast. We ask people in Birmingham if they think holidays are becoming unaffordable—and what pressure that puts on families.

00:00So my mum's a single mother with my two younger sisters and it is a lot of pressure to the point
00:06where I help. The government, she gets so much help from like government, like say food parcels
00:12or something, she gets so much help with that and then it's like going out activities, she can't
00:18afford that stuff because she's only limited. People can say oh she goes out and gets a job but
00:24everyone's different, mental health, so on, you only get so much help as well. Yeah as a parent
00:30myself I'd say it's too much because especially if you know it's expensive having one child, if you've
00:35got multiple children it's like you know even like to the theme parks you're talking £100 and then
00:42spending money and it's like you can't have money every single day as well as living you know to
00:49provide for these things and there's not many resources out there you know like to help the
00:54kids when they're bored and that so yeah it does put pressures on parents, absolutely.
