00:00Expect stormy weather, torrential rains and even flooding this weekend as a low-pressure area closes in on the country and intensifies into a tropical storm or even a typhoon.
00:11Our Rod Lagosad has more on this weather disturbance dubbed Crissing in this report.
00:18Tropical depression Crissing, the third tropical cyclone inside the Fulpin area of responsibility, is expected to intensify and became a tropical storm by tomorrow.
00:27By Friday, the storm is expected to be nearest to land, particularly to northern Luzon.
00:32From Friday until Saturday, it is expected to further strengthen into a severe tropical storm.
00:37But before that, as the storm approaches, Pag-Hasawater Specialist John Manalo says it will enhance the southwest monsoon, especially in the western part of the country.
01:07Based on the 5pm wire bulletin of Pag-Hasaw, tropical depression Crissing was last spotted 625 kilometers east of Viracatanduanes.
01:15It carries maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 55 kilometers per hour
01:21and is moving west-southwestward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
01:44Pag-Hasaw does not rule out the possibility that the storm's track may shift toward mainland Cagayan or Isabela
01:51or move north toward Batanes depending on how they're affecting atmospheric systems.
01:55Pag-Hasaw also adds that tropical cyclone wind signal number one may be raised over parts of Cagayan Valley tonight or early tomorrow
02:02if the storm maintain its westward path or expand its radius.
02:05The possibility of raising tropical cyclone wind signal number one over Catanduanes is also not being ruled out.
02:27Pag-Hasaw adds that tropical cyclone wind signals could be raised to as high as number three or four due to tropical depression increasing.
02:49In line with this, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Operations Center has raised its blue alert status to ensure coordination among various agencies.
02:58The storm is expected to possibly exit par by Saturday afternoon or evening.
