00:34offer i i don't think it's a contest and a couple things i give my seats to wiggy anytime uh number

00:41two number two hands down boston i mean boston should have a wmba team it's the best thing for

00:47the players the best thing for the league i mean two years in a row the garden sold out i mean it was

00:54just hopping last night causeway had the seal of bruins celtics playoff uh time i mean it was that

01:03packed um we've got the market we're the greatest sports town in america and we're also the place

01:08where basketball was invented the men's game the women's game home to the hall of fame we're the hub

01:14we're the capital of new england and the sun should be in boston and everybody can come from other states

01:20to enjoy it and we'll share the love and share the wealth and um i mean you know that the dollars

01:26right now i mean the the money and the marketing and the retail and um the gear and and the interest

01:35it's so uh with the wmba i mean it's just like growing like mad i mean the sales yesterday were

01:41unbelievable and um you know i think we've got great sponsorship opportunities here we've got great

01:48interest hotels in boston were sold out last night because of this game alone so you know i think

01:54it's just a no-brainer for the league we absolutely need a team here i issued a proclamation for whatever

02:00that's worth uh you know just commending celebrating the wmba and just affirming that as governor i'll do

02:06anything i can to get a team here in boston you know to be a good investor portnoy because he he's

02:14a he's a obviously a big fan of the wmb he'd be because you got to obviously have somebody to buy

02:19or invest in the the team what but would yeah he was uh he was there last night governor would

02:27would the city support it though when it comes to games that caitlin clark is not playing in

02:34like i i mean i think absolutely look like last year greg right we had we had the la sparks here last

02:39year sellout through the roof right that that's a non-caitlin clark game and you know obviously

02:45caitlin clark draws like an incredible number right and it's just this unique phenom but we've got the

02:52rest of the league too i mean page becker's playing at dallas we've got such talent in that league and

02:59you know they sell out last year without caitlin clark they sell out this year with caitlin clark

03:03clark absolutely the interest is there and you know women's professional sports in boston it's

03:08growing look at we've got professional soccer and lacrosse and rugby and hockey and we gotta have

03:15basketball no governor do you think it falls at a nice time of year right i mean we want the we want

03:23the celts and the bees going deep into the playoffs but you know it's summer right and and why not um

03:30um you know i think that td garden and the folks are awesome just like let's use the space let's

03:35make it work um we've got great practice facility options here and uh i can tell you you know i spent

03:41a lot of time with fun players and management over the last couple days they'd love it here they'd be

03:47pumped they were pumped last night they were so pumped they almost beat the fever they were tired

03:52at halftime you know governor do you envision them playing in td garden if they were here or would

03:57they be in a in a different venue i think td garden would be a great venue you know you'd have to work

04:03out some of the schedule with the b's and c's but uh look um i can't say enough about how great the

04:09td garden folks were last night i mean they they turned the garden into uh the kinetic sun home court

04:18just happened to you know have 20 000 people there um which is a big difference from mohegan sun no

04:23disrespect there but i mean it's just that scale they turned everything orange seats were orange

04:29all the lighting i mean wiki was there right it was like so cool they even brought the floor they even

04:33had the floor from the sun um over the parquet and it was awesome and they were pumped well let's make

04:40a deal okay if we agree to advocate for this could you fix the mbta i'm working on it every day yes

04:48yes let me can i just say something in all seriousness because that we had a we had an

04:54incident yesterday on the blue line and i just i want to i want to just say that was a um and i

05:01felt terrible for the people who were on the blue line under the under the harbor in the tunnel i mean

05:06i know that's scary it sucks i'll explain the situation feelings come in he's doing a great job he

05:12really is the problem is is that this thing was so under invested in for years so we're still playing

05:18catch up i mean he's gotten rid of slow zones he's made a lot of changes the wire that fell

05:22yesterday it's 60 years old but this is the kind of work we're doing every day to replace things so

05:28i'm uh i'm really sorry but but from a politician perspective you can't implore people to take public

05:37transportation when they can't rely on it no you're absolutely right which is why we've seen numbers go

05:44way up because the t has improved drastically under my under my administration it really has i mean

05:49if you talk to people who ride the t they'll tell you it's on time um it is uh you know we've had far

05:58fewer incidents because we've made a lot of repairs to it we've gotten rid of the slow zones or people

06:03are getting in faster is it perfect no and are we still working on it every day yes um but uh you know

06:10i'm committed to to doing that i i know how important public transit is for people to get

06:14around and for our economy and i think i've got the right guy in phil ang you know leading things um

06:21there's just uh there's just a lot of catch-up left to do have you heard anything when we're talking

06:26about the garden have you heard anything from the new celtics ownership group about uh uh maybe a new

06:32arena for them like have you heard anything about that at all no no um i mean i've heard you know some of the

06:40chatter out there but uh you know no no nobody heard directly from anybody i've heard from some of

06:47the new ownership group and you know my my congratulations to them i wish them well and

06:52i want you know i want banner 19 right um but uh you know i hope uh jb was there last night

07:00you know he's on the men that's cool and we just got to get uh jason back right and uh

07:06make it make a great run well listen when it comes to championships should anybody come to you

07:12in the next couple of months and say listen we have to we got to start planning for the

07:18eventuality of of some kind of a fall rolling rally resist the urge like dude like that can be a jinx

07:26it's happened in other cities no planning on any and no planning on any kind of parades until a

07:32certain team has actually won the whole thing in october all right no hell no hell no i mean you

07:39know i'm not stupid you can say a lot of things about me but i i would never stupid um but yeah

07:46hopefully they'll keep at it right i mean it's been it's been a good turn so you know red sox are right

07:52there if they make some news yeah they could be the first team to have the duck boat parade yep so did

07:58you know that when we were in newport governor when we were in newport wiggy got the key to the

08:03city and he's never gotten the key to the state i don't know if that's a thing that's out there but

08:07i just like to throw it out there is that true yeah it's true yep key to the city rhode island oh my

08:13god i'm the man well we're gonna uh we're gonna take care of that you know i gave a um i gave a

08:19proclamation to alia boston the other day so wiggy you deserve yours right exactly yeah i mean she's not

08:26from around here so you know and when i went to new hampshire the governor gave me a new hampshire

08:31at that time it wrote me something on a dunkin donuts cup where i could just basically you know

08:36speed speed for for a couple days forget what he was yes the new new gave him that man

08:44all right so listen you are you take care of that you are you i love you boston i'm glad you called and

08:51so you're saying let's get a wmba team here governor that's yeah let's rally let's rally okay

08:57it's great you know with every sports team we get it just adds to the legend adds to the lore adds to

09:01the attraction boston greatest sports hub not just in the country in the world and uh let's make it
