00:00In Tokyo, Barbers turned the stage into a runway of skill and creativity.
00:09The World Barber Classic brought together Barbers from Japan and abroad.
00:14Their mission, to revive Barber culture and win back young clients.
00:30I think it's the most important part of my model.
00:43My model is a bonsai shop.
00:49A bonsai shop is a bonsai shop.
00:53A bonsai shop is a bonsai shop.
00:56I would like to express that one by one.
01:01With just 30 minutes, contestants crafted stylish, bold haircuts, each a form of self-expression.
01:09Judges watched closely, looking for fades, flair and passion.
01:14It takes a lot of execution.
01:17So a lot of finishing the haircut from start to finish.
01:21So a good fade, great styling and a great technique to get there.
01:25Because they only have 30 minutes.
01:27So it's really hard to achieve that quality of haircut in that small time frame.
01:31To see the quality of style and hair, it was amazing.
01:35So definitely very talented artist and very visually creative artist as well.
01:40I think hair is more than just hair, right?
01:43It's a way of communicating yourself but also connecting people.
01:47So I think it's a very, very amazing thing.
01:50And I'm so happy that now the world is becoming more aware.
01:53And especially seeing competition now, I think it begins to evolve past the chair.
01:58Yeah, it's more worldwide.
01:59And it's a language that anybody can understand.
02:02Barbars like Shauma and Takumasa use hair to tell stories about style, identity and even bonsai art.
02:11More than hair, this was a language, a way to connect people.
02:15Japan's Barbars scene is changing and this was just the beginning.
