00:00This is maybe the very first Marvel family, but what is so special about this family?
00:13Well, I think what makes them special is that they are a family, as you said, you know,
00:17it was a radical idea in the 60s to create a superhero team that was a family.
00:22The idea that you could create real human drama between these characters,
00:28husband and wife, brother and sister, best friend, that they would feel like us,
00:33that they would be relatable because so many superheroes feel so distant, so far away from us.
00:38The Fantastic Four are very appealing because they are,
00:42they have the same vulnerabilities that we have as people.
00:45They are the same heart, the same humor, the same messiness.
00:48It's a kind of vintage sensation about this film, not only because in the 60s,
00:56but it's the way that you make the film is a kind of vintage.
00:59Yeah, you're right.
01:00I mean, the movie is set in the 60s, in a retro future 60s on a different earth and a different universe.
01:07But we made it with a lot of authenticity, a lot of love for 60s movies, architecture, photography.
01:15These were our references.
01:17We wanted it to feel in some degree like a movie that had been made at that time.
01:20We shot some sequences on 16mm, we used vintage lenses, vintage lighting.
01:26The people in the 60s who were dreaming about the future,
01:29making those dreams come true in the world of the film.
