With so many pubs closing, including a number of Wetherspoons, why are they so important to communities?
Transcript
00:00You've got to look at places like Lark Lane. There are too many bars on Lark Lane.
00:06It used to be an independent street. The Guardian likened it to a bohemian, you know, bohemian street in the centre of Liverpool.
00:16We have all bar two, three now actually, of our pubs and clubs owned by the same person.
00:22They just think it's a pricey, doesn't it?
00:24Community, that's what pubs are. People from a community will gather in a pub. They have their own locals.
00:33All these little pubs years ago was in the side streets and all that, but now they're all in town now, so, you know, it's not very good for the old, you know, because they might be able to get out that far.
00:46People tend now because they can get beer cheap in a supermarket, places like that. You know, they're going garden, whether they're like this, they're going to garden, won't they, and have a bit of a party or a barbie or something.
00:57Yeah, there's a lot more people drinking at home now.
00:59We'll see you next time.
01:02So, thank you guys.
