At a White House Faith Office luncheon on Monday, President Trump spoke about the Big Beautiful Bill
Transcript
00:00But the biggest victory of all came 10 days ago when I signed the one big, beautiful bill
00:06into law.
00:07Right?
00:14And just as I promised, we did something that was amazing.
00:18You know, we were — everybody was against it.
00:20I wanted it.
00:22I know Scott and Howard like the idea of it, too.
00:24But it was very risky because they've never done anything like it in terms of the size.
00:29It's the biggest bill ever passed, of its kind, ever passed, by far.
00:34And they were going to cut it into two, three, or even as many as seven bills.
00:37And I said, the problem is that in the one big bill, everybody gets something.
00:44When you cut it into sevens, there are four or five of them or three of them, right, Kevin,
00:49that you get nothing.
00:50All they're going to do is fight it.
00:51You'll never get them passed.
00:54And so we went with it.
00:55I was on — I was on a show called Deface the Nation.
00:59Have you heard of it?
01:01They're so bad.
01:04They're so bad.
01:05These people are — they're so average.
01:07But I was on this show Deface the Nation.
01:09Ladies and gentlemen, President Donald J. Trump on Deface the Nation.
01:14No, but they're all so bad.
01:17But we were on the show, and she said to me a question.
01:22She said, what would you call this bill?
01:26Would you want to have it called One Big Beautiful, or would you rather see it?
01:32I said, what I want is one great, big, beautiful bill.
01:37And Speaker Mike Johnson and John Thune, they were watching, and they said, what a great
01:42name for the bill.
01:43We actually ended up calling it that.
01:45We took the great out.
01:46I actually liked it even better.
01:48One great, big, beautiful.
01:50But they said, let's — a little bit of a low key.
01:54But we got to pass.
01:55But we got to pass because there's something for everybody.
01:57And there are things that people don't like, but you need them for the country.
02:00You know, you have to do some things that are great for the country, but they wouldn't
02:04necessarily get the votes.
02:06And we got the votes.
02:07Think of it, not one Democrat vote.
02:11All the goodies that we got, not one Democrat voted in either the Senate or the House.
02:16And we're talking about tax cuts and business.
02:19I mean, so many different things that are so good, right?
02:22Not one Democrat vote.
