Trump Says GOP Senators 'Committed,' July 4 Deadline Is 'Not The End-All' For Big Beautiful Bill

President Trump was asked about the self-imposed July 4th deadline to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act during a White House press briefing.

00:00Thank you, Mr. President. I was just speaking with Senator Ron Johnson on the

00:04one big beautiful bill and he says he really wants to get to yes for you and

00:08get this accomplished. He does. He's a good man. But he also said that he needs

00:11more time and he is not certain that the July 4th deadline is possible. He's a good man.

00:17Ron Johnson is doing a good job. He's very committed. Every Republican senator is

00:22committed and you know you could have a couple of grandstanders in all fairness.

00:27You could have somebody else and it's very dangerous because our country would

00:31go from being the most successful country in the world to who knows what

00:34happens with a 68 percent. Think of it. 68 percent tax increase. That was given by

00:39the Democrats because they like high taxes. I don't know what happened. You know all

00:44my life I'd grow up and I'd watch politicians talking. I'd say oh that's

00:48fun and they were always saying we will cut your taxes. We will cut your tax. I

00:52never heard it. They say we will raise your taxes and they elect people like

00:58this guy in New York that maybe has a chance. I find it hard to believe but he

01:01maybe has a chance. They want to raise your taxes. So they want to see a 68 percent

01:06tax increase. That's more money than anybody could afford. You'd go into a

01:10depression if that ever happened. So I think there's a lot of pressure to get

01:14that approved. How important is the July 4th deadline to you? It's important. It's not the end

01:22all. Looking no longer. But we'd like to get it done by that time if possible. Look we

01:27have a lot of very committed people and they feel very strongly about a subject.

01:31Subjects that you're not even thinking about that are important to Republicans.

01:35The problem we have is that it's a great bill. It's a popular bill but we'll get no

01:41Democrats only because they don't want to vote for Trump. If they if that bill was

01:46their bill oh they would be so happy. It's so great for our military. It's great

01:50for everything and they would normally vote but because their hatred of Trump

01:56they have Trump derangement syndrome at levels never seen before and instead of

02:01voting for a tax cut they're voting for a tax increase of 68 percent. They're voting to

02:07destroy Social Security, destroy Medicare and destroy Medicaid and we're voting to

02:13make them perfect and to make them better, make them stronger and better. They're

02:18going to destroy Medicaid and they're going to destroy Medicare and Social

02:21Security will follow. If you vote for the Democrats you're dead on those three things.
