Darley Street Market: Traders share what it's really like at Bradford's new market

Following the closure of Oastler Market and Kirkgate - many new and old faces have joined the line up inside Bradford's £30.1 million market.

00:00Bradford's new market has opened. How are people finding it?

00:04Well I've seen it from rubble up until here. So me and John have been in and out of the

00:07shop for months looking at it. There's photos on the slide showed me with hard hats on so

00:13it's easier for us to adjust to it because we've been here. But I'm imagining everyone

00:18else it's a lot different but it's what Bradford needs. 100% Bradford needs something new and

00:24this is the start of it.

00:26And how are you finding it as well? It's yeah it's different but it's exciting. I mean

00:31we've got more space now, more we've always needed. We were in the old market but we'd

00:36outgrown the shop in the Austin Street Centre. So now we've got the better facilities and

00:42bigger counters so we can do more wines. So yeah it's awesome. We've got the dry aged fridge

00:46with all the beef in it. Unbelievable.

00:49How's it going here at Darley Street Market? It's been brilliant. The opening weekend has

00:54been a fantastic response. We've had so many people come in. So many people come over to

01:01solids and compliment how we've set out our fresh produce and our groceries and how much

01:08of a breath of fresh air it is compared to the old market on John Street. But yeah it's

01:13been absolutely amazing. We've had so many people come down. It was absolutely heaving yesterday.

01:19It looks like it's picking up now. So yeah we're expecting a really good day and it's

01:24going to be a brilliant weekend if it ends like it did yesterday.

01:28What do you think of the market so far? I think it's brilliant. I think it's really modern.

01:32Really. There's so much to choose from. So much to choose from. Everyone's got such an excitement

01:37about the place. I think it's brilliant. It's a really good addition to it.
