Brazil elephant sanctuary welcomes its newest resident, rescued from a zoo in Argentina

Kenya the elephant arrived this week at the Elephant Sanctuary Brazil, becoming the newest resident of the more than 1,000-hectare refuge located in Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso.

00:00Kenya the elephant arriving in her new home at the Elephant Sanctuary in central western Brazil.
00:08She's the newest resident of the 1000 hectare refuge.
00:14Getting her here from her previous home in Mendoza, Argentina wasn't easy.
00:21Kenya's trip is over. It was a five-day trip almost 4,000 kilometers from Mendoza to the Sanctuary in Chaparra dos Guimaras in Mato Grosso.
00:32More than 20 people were directly involved in the motorcade, with police escorts from the border in Foz de Igasu until the Sanctuary.
00:42After spending most of her life alone in a zoo, Kenya will join six other Asian elephants,
00:50including the previous newcomer, Poopy, who arrived in April.
00:55Now she only needs to get used to her new environment. It should be very quick, like Poopy.
01:01Soon they'll be together exploring this very rich place of more than 50,000 square meters of forests,
01:08where they can enjoy nature. It's an enriching environment for them, and that's what they deserve.
01:15The Elephant Sanctuary Brazil is now home to seven elephants, all rescued after decades in circuses or zoos.
