South African town wakes up to elephant seal hobbling down its streets

It was an unusual sight in Gordon's Bay, a seaside town near Cape Town: an elephant seal weighing two tons galumphed down its streets on Tuesday morning. The animal was eventually caught and released on a nearby beach.

00:13before being guided back to the shore in a rescue effort.
00:18When the seal stopped next to a shopping mall, a team of wildlife specialists managed to sedate him and guide him into a trailer.
00:25Animal welfare officials worried he was too far from the ocean to find his way back and might become exhausted and dehydrated.
00:34The seal, a young male, was then released on a beach and was soon after seen hobbling back into his natural habitat.
