00:00it's going to be the most talked about thing now a player that pitched five games in major league

00:04baseball has made the all-star team and so you know look part of me gray is completely on board

00:11with the ceremonial idea of of this i i do agree with that because i do think you know most people

00:18that are baseball fans are going to want to see this guy pitch over most everybody else but at

00:24the same time gray like what precedent are we setting here you know sometimes when players

00:28sign contracts gray in their deals it's like if you make an all-star game you get 50 grand

00:33i think it's time to like eliminate that stuff here if you're a player because what we have now

00:39done is set the bar to say it's a popularity contest i'm good with that but as you can see

00:45the phillies are like super upset with that they feel like their guys deserve to be in it does lead

00:50to arbitration contract talks too in arbitration those people don't really understand how things

00:55work when you're arguing you're like yeah my guy made an all-star team now you say well some other

00:59guy pitched five games and he got in so you always have good perspective on this stuff what do you what

01:04do you think of this decision yeah no i i mean it is it's a tough one because i could i feel like i

01:11could argue either side of the situation you know with uh with the ceremonial aspect it is it's kind of

01:18cool to uh put in jacob mazaroski because he is this rookie phenom who is pitching really well

01:26but like you said it's only five starts uh uh ceremonial to also have a guy who is pitching well

01:36for the whole season like say chris sanchez of the phillies you know so it's like it's ceremonial

01:43but it's also like you want to have the ceremony be about the right guys not just a you know a nod to

01:52someone who happens to come up and look good and i mean we know baseball we know how demanding it is

02:01and you know how much like guys can look great in like a start or two or five and then just go off

02:09the rails for you know months like sandy alcantara he was a young guy perennially and now he's

02:18struggling for the marlins so it's like just because a guy looks good for five starts doesn't

02:24really mean anything so you want to be able to like you want to reward players for good play for

02:31the whole year unless this is just become something else but then you you have the futures game you want

02:37to put a guy in who's like you know if he still has rookie eligibility put him in the futures game

02:43or something like you could still honor his performance in a way that doesn't take away from

02:49someone else who has been playing so well now on the other side of it i think you look at it and

02:56you're like yeah it's just an all-star game who cares i mean it's it's for fun it's for the fans

03:02right so if the fans want to see jacob meseroski then put jacob meseroski in the game like it doesn't

03:09matter but then it also becomes like a matter of like it just doesn't matter you know then you're

03:15just putting in guys because they're fun it's like oh cam slittler got called up by the yankees

03:21he's had one start he looked pretty good why don't we put him in the all-star game like at what point

03:27become ridiculous or you know it's like then you have a guy like juan soda which is this is

03:34related but it's also very funny that he's getting paid i think upwards to uh 700 million dollars and

03:41this week he was saying to a reporter he was like you know what i wish i made the all-star game because

03:47i wanted to make the bonus and everyone was like wait you wanted to make fifty thousand dollars you're

03:53making fifty million dollars this year so yeah no i mean it is just it's you know the players i think

04:02really kind of want it because you know a lot of them have these bonuses involved but other other

04:08times you do get guys that you know really have a claim to being in the all-star game like christopher

04:15sanchez who just had an amazing year and if he gets snubbed because of jacob meseroski that that is

04:21unfair i mean there there is a direct sort of like you know a punishment being doled out to sanchez for

04:29no reason just because you wanted to reward a guy who looks good after you know 30 innings or whatever
