00:00The best pitcher, though, in Major League Baseball,
00:02certainly in the American League right now, that's Tarek Skubal.
00:05His last two outings, DRS, seven innings of work in both.
00:09He has allowed a total of four hits in those two starts.
00:13Not a single earned run with a total of 23 Ks.
00:17He is 10-2.
00:19The Tigers have won 12 of his last 13 starts.
00:22In Detroit, a minus 240 favorite tonight in Motown
00:26against the Seattle Mariners,
00:28who swept the Pirates over the weekend at home
00:30and then were swept during the midweek by the Yankees in the Bronx.
00:34What do you like tonight in Detroit?
00:37You do not want to face aces in the final series before the All-Star break.
00:42And I say, well, wow, you don't want to face them anytime.
00:44Yeah, understandably.
00:45But let's talk about like a Detroit mindset right now
00:47because Tarek Skubal is the best pitcher, let's just say, in Major League Baseball.
00:51And you're saying today that he has 98 pitches in the seventh inning
00:54and is doing well.
00:55And they go up, got to bring him out five days.
00:56He said, no, he doesn't.
00:57No, he doesn't.
00:58You go, these three games, you have an entire week off.
01:01He's going to get extended rest.
01:03Now, that doesn't mean it's a license to abuse Tarek Skubal
01:06and say he can go buck 40 tonight and do a complete game
01:08regardless of the circumstances.
01:10But if we're looking at an extra 10 pitches to get you through an inning
01:13or an extra half inning, this might be the game to do it
01:16because you look at Seattle.
01:18Yeah, we like them.
01:19They're a good team.
01:19Skubal's on a different level.
01:20You think he's going to shut it down.
01:21By the way, Luis Castillo on the other side,
01:23he's got pretty good numbers over the past 60 days.
01:25But he does get hit by lefty.
01:27So if you're looking for RBI props, Cole Keith is in there.
01:29Wenzel Perez, Riley Green, Zach McKinstry.
01:32You get the point on those.
01:33But I look at that total, Ben, and I just want to keep it simple.
01:36Do I think Detroit wins?
01:38Yes.
01:38Do I want to pay that price $2.25?
01:40No, I don't.
01:41But understand this.
01:42Getting to eight runs, which means both of these pitchers
01:44giving up probably three runs over six innings,
01:47I don't think that's happening here.
01:49This game screams, once again, four to three or less.
01:52And I'll take my chances, we don't get to eight runs
01:55with a couple of left-handed RBI out of the Detroit Tigers.
01:59DRS, that total of seven feels like a May number,
02:02not the middle of July.
02:03But I think it speaks to the strength, of course,
02:06of tonight's pitching matchup in Motown.
02:09Our second game of a four-game set to end out the first half
02:12before the All-Star break between divisional foes.
02:15Red Sox and Rays tonight in Boston in Fenway.
02:19Line is flipped.
02:19The Sox now an ever-so-slight favorite at home.
02:22They rallied last night to win 4-3 against Tampa.
02:25Total is nine.
02:26We can hit on it more, DRS, on the other side of the break.
02:29But what is your early look for this second game in Beantown?
02:32Maybe we wake up on offense because the runners in scoring position
02:35certainly weren't helping out yesterday.
02:37But you take a look at 76 degrees now,
02:39up about 10 degrees of what we saw last night.
02:42When that ballpark gets warm, you used to get hits.
02:44And also, quickly on Hunter Dobbins, really good numbers,
02:47but he also walks too many guys and doesn't strike guys out.
02:51That'll get you in trouble.
