Chandigarh, July 11, 2025(ANI): The Punjab assembly on July 11 passed a resolution opposing the deployment of CISF for the security of Bhakra- Beas Dam stating that the state police force is capable to handle the security of the Dam. Commenting on the same, Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, "...The central government and Haryana government want the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to be deployed for the security of the Bhakra Beas Dam, but for the last 70 years, Punjab Police has been ensuring its security... In collusion with the Congress party's government, the BJP's central government had hatched a conspiracy to hand over the security of Punjab's dam to CISF, but today we have withdrawn this decision... We have conveyed to the central government that we do not accept CISF; our Punjab Police is capable. The Congress party, correcting its past mistake, has supported this."
