00:00I mean, I'm assuming you watch the news on a regular basis
00:03and you keep up to date with what's happening in the situation,
00:06probably the diplomatic efforts that don't seem to be delivering any results for now.
00:12What would you say are the biggest differences between what you know to be the reality
00:17from having seen it yourself and what you see on your TV screen
00:21on an average British-American-Australian TV channel?
00:24Well, I think, you know, there's no denying what's happening in Gaza.
00:28You know, we're seeing the videos of people being gunned down.
00:32We're seeing videos of children with horrific injuries and missing limbs and missing heads.
00:38I think the thing that really is frightening to see
00:41is the justification for these images that we're seeing.
00:45It's not just the justification that we're seeing,
00:47but sometimes it's even the denial at the scale at which it's happening.
00:52We have got tens of thousands of dead women and children.
00:56There are estimates in the Lancet report and respected medical journals
01:02that it could be in the hundreds of thousands dead.
01:07To have people on media arguing over, you know, chants at Glastonbury,
01:14whether that's okay or not,
01:17but whether the actual killing of 600 people is okay or not,
01:24that doesn't even receive the same media coverage.
01:26You know, that Glastonbury period of three days,
01:28600 Palestinians were killed in Gaza.
01:31Where's the outrage for those 600 people?
01:33Why is the outrage for a punk rock band and their chant?
01:38And this is, I think, the problem in the media is
01:41the real issues are not being discussed.
01:43The truth is out there,
01:45and I think everybody knows how horrific the scenes are in Gaza,
01:48but it's the constant steering of the narrative by the media
01:52which is the problem, and that's what I try and do.
01:54I try and steer back the narrative back to the situation on the ground in Gaza,
01:58which is all of these things that are happening all around the world
02:01and the, you know, rise in Islamophobia
02:04and the rise of anti-Semitism,
02:07these things can all be attributed back to this conflict, this war,
02:10and we need to focus on that because if we solve that,
02:13it will bring the temperature down all over the world,
02:15and it will bring the temperature down on Islamophobia and anti-Semitism,
02:19which is something that we all want to see.
