Taiwan’s Armed Forces have released new footage from the “Han Kuang-41” military exercises, showing four M1A2T Abrams tanks engaged in live-fire drills at the Kengzikou training ground.

For the first time, the Taiwanese Army deployed the U.S.-made tanks during its annual drills. The exercises included firing at both stationary and moving targets, simulating realistic combat scenarios with the vehicles firing while both stationary and on the move.

A total of 19 fin-stabilized sabot training rounds were fired at mock targets simulating China’s Type 05 amphibious assault vehicles and Type 99 main battle tanks, both in service with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

According to Taiwanese officials, the drills are intended to test and enhance the island’s defensive capabilities in the face of potential regional threats.
