Penkridge mobile phone problems with EE.
Transcript
00:00Hello, my name is Jane Taylor and I'm a resident of Penkridge. I'm speaking on behalf of the
00:06residents of Penkridge regarding the issues that we're having with EE and have been since
00:13the end of May to date. I'll just go through some of the issues that we're having. I've
00:18collected these off the residents and they include SOS calls only can be made, calls
00:25cutting off midstream, intermittent calls, underwater calls, can't make calls not
00:31connecting and can't have calls in, reporting your phone is on aeroplane mode when you're in your
00:37car and people can't use their work phones, Uber taxis when they're coming to Penkridge can't get
00:43any systems working at all in their cars. A number of the villagers have rung EE and we seem to be
00:51getting a mixture of responses. Firstly, they've told us that there's a mast out by the garage and
00:58it's a tree obstructing the mast and they're waiting for the landowner to give them permission to look
01:04at it. Then we were told it was the mast by the vets in Penkridge and they can't get access to the
01:10land. Then there's one with trouble with the mast at Congreve and they can't get access. BT have told
01:17us there's problems with 2G and 4G and it'll be fixed in a couple of weeks. When you speak to EE,
01:23if you can actually get through to them, they tell you that it's ongoing and they are looking at it
01:30and they'll keep you updated and if it's not fixed by the end of July, ring back and they'll refund you
01:37your fee for the month. Then you get a message, an automated message, just saying the week's ongoing
01:44and it's taking longer than anticipated. Surely, terms and conditions for putting the masts into
01:52these fields would state that the EE have access to get on to maintain those masts. If a tree's in
02:00the way and there's not a tree protection order on it, what is the problem? This is what the
02:05villages are concerned about, that we're all being fobbed off and is there something a little bit more
02:09sinister going on. Comments from the villages as well. I had 67 comments when I asked for comments.
02:20There's far more than that because a lot of the villages here are elderly people and some of their
02:26daughters and sons have contacted me saying that they're worried because the parents are worried
02:32that they can't keep in touch with the family. They have no landlines because they've been taken out
02:37now and that's the only lifeline that they have with their family. People feel that they're being
02:42fobbed off. Is it something sinister that EE aren't telling us because it's only Penkridge? When you go
02:49into the local EE shops, they know nothing about it. So we really need to get to the bottom of this
02:56and get EE working again in Penkridge.
