Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore discusses his side's pre-season defeat against National League neighbours Gateshead, new signings and possible new additions and Saturday's friendly at Northallerton Town.
Transcript
00:00Daniel, it was a 10-seater look. It resulted in pre-season, but in terms of workout and fitness workout,
00:07that felt like a good one for you guys.
00:09Yeah, it was good. In for the first one for a reason.
00:14Just to have a look at what we were going to look like defensively, off the ball,
00:18our distances between each other.
00:21Because we are going to, hopefully, everyone being fit,
00:26defending a little bit differently, with and without the ball.
00:30But a good workout, we've got all what we need out of it against a good side still.
00:36And I guess that's the point in playing a professional club, sorry,
00:39is to get that sort of workout and discipline that you're going to need throughout the season.
00:43Yeah, I said, you're not going to play them every week at that level,
00:47but there will be spells in games, no matter who we play against,
00:50where we're going to have to defend like that in spells in games.
00:55That's just the nature of the beast of the league we're in.
00:58You come up against some very good sides and each side will be saying the same thing.
01:02You know, it's good to work on without the ball.
01:05And obviously, the next three friendlies, you know, we'll look at, hopefully,
01:10with the ball, attacking-wise, what we're going to look like.
01:14You've had a chance to take a look at a couple of your new players tonight.
01:17I think this time during the summer, is there anything more coming in?
01:20We're trying to get one, possibly two in on loan, players that we know that we've had here before.
01:29So hopefully, maybe down the line in a few weeks' time, they might happen.
01:33But I'm happy with what we've got at the moment.
01:36You've seen young Joe Do coming on there.
01:39He's been with us pre-season.
01:42Very young boy, but I think he's got something about him that appeals to me.
01:46And, you know, the lads really like him.
01:48And then the three lads that were playing tonight, I thought they equipped themselves very well.
01:54I thought Joe was very good.
01:57He's just steady away, which isn't, you know, you know what you're getting from him.
02:01And then Ethan and Jack.
02:03I think Jack was an absolute Venice when he went up top court.
02:06He probably could have scored a couple of goals himself.
02:08But yeah, and then Ethan's come on and ticked us over in midfield.
02:11So I'm excited for what we'll look like.
02:14Because like you said, people will go, oh, 4-0.
02:17But we've come up against a full-time outfit that have been at the top end nationally.
02:22And look, they're stepping up against North Allenton now in the next sort of step in that progress of pre-season.
02:27Yeah, we've said the next phase of pre-season will be, you know, with the ball, hopefully, attacking.
02:34Thursday training will be the similar sort of thing.
02:37Can we take that?
02:38Then parts from training into the games on Saturday, Tuesday.
02:43Saturday, the next three should be, you know, with the ball and having a fair share of chances.
