In this powerful episode, Chairperson of the Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Peace and Justice (MWCQP) Zuraidah Kornain talks about how Malaysian women are rising in solidarity with Gaza - not with pity, but with purpose.

From coordinating diplomatic letters to championing justice for Palestinian women and children, MWCQP is helping lead a movement grounded in principled diplomacy, collective action and unwavering humanity.

Zuraidah shares why the struggle in Gaza resonates so deeply with Malaysian women and how this moment connects with a long global legacy of women leading resistance, from apartheid South Africa to civil rights America.

00:00In times of crisis, women have always been at the forefront of social justice, social reform, and freedom.
00:06From the struggles of apartheid in South Africa to the civil rights movement in the United States,
00:10women have always driven this cause forward.
00:13Now taking this spirit onward are Malaysian women who are standing in solidarity with Gazan women today.
00:19Now joining us in today's episode of the Palestine Diaries is
00:22Chairperson of the Malaysian Women's Coalition for Outkirts and Palestine, Zura Dekor Nain.
00:28I'm thankful for having you here.
00:29I just wanted to ask you about the MWCQP.
00:35I've been told that they have issued a letter to several embassies
00:41in recognition of their joint statement towards the struggle in Gaza.
00:46What prompted this initiative, may I ask?
00:49Okay, so thank you.
00:52Actually, this is just a show of solidarity to the six countries, actually,
00:58the European Union countries, namely Spain, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Ireland, and Iceland.
01:06So we just want to show our solidarity and appreciate every little move that they do,
01:12you know, in supporting the struggle in Gaza.
01:16So that's actually was the motivation, was the motivation for us to send the letter to this embassies.
01:26So it is a show of solidarity.
01:28And actually, in Malaysian Women's Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine,
01:34we have come up with our house of strategy.
01:37And one of the pillar, one of our pillar is to bring about the Malaysian Women's Voices
01:44towards in the international platform.
01:49So we see that this is an opportunity for us to be visible in the international arena.
01:54Just wanted to elaborate on, you know, how Malaysian Women's Voices are being visible in the international scene.
02:03How successful have you been in, you know, bringing Malaysian Women's Voices forward,
02:10you know, to, may you say, the European Union and everywhere around the world?
02:14Okay. So, Alhamdulillah, I think bringing about Malaysian Women's Voices to the international level
02:24does not only mean, you know, having a speaking engagement at the international level.
02:31So we also participated in Women's Boat to Gaza.
02:38One of our, I mean, Dr. Fauziah Muhammad Hassan,
02:41who is our honorary advisor, she was on the Women's Boat to Gaza in 2016.
02:48So the boat is consisting of 12 ladies, you know, international from America,
02:57from other parts of the world.
02:59And Dr. Fauziah was the doctor of that team.
03:03And they were just about 35 nautical miles from the Gaza beach
03:08and they were intercepted by the Israeli forces.
03:12And Dr. Fauziah was actually put into Israeli prison.
03:17So that also part of our activity from the Malaysian Women's Coalition
03:23to, I mean, to voice out our concern, our sympathy,
03:29and actually put our sympathy and transform our sympathy into actions.
03:35Yeah.
03:35So it doesn't mean that we only have writing letters.
03:40So we also, mind you, sorry, we also send protest notes to a few embassy,
03:48especially the embassy of United States of America.
03:51So we send when, 7 Oktober, when Gaza was first attacked in 7 Oktober 2023.
04:02So we prepared a protest note to the U.S. embassy.
04:07And we sent the letter also to British High Commission.
04:11And we went to the United Nations Office in Putrajaya.
04:17Besides that, we also went to Saudi Arabia,
04:23or Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy,
04:26and also to the Egyptian embassy.
04:29And we rally in front of the Egyptian embassy saying that,
04:34please open the Rafah border.
04:35So those are a few examples of how we bring about Malaysian Women's Voices
04:42into the international arena.
04:45I especially like, I hope Dr. Fazja is okay now.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Yeah, yeah.
04:49She's back.
04:51That was in 2016.
04:52Yeah, but it leaves a mark in someone's life, right?
04:55I see.
04:56Yeah, correct.
04:56So just, you know, to spend more on the letter itself,
05:01about the letter that rallied, you know, all the embassies,
05:04I just wanted to ask you, you've made it clear in the letter
05:07that this wasn't about, you know, giving praise to, you know,
05:10these embassies that are taking action,
05:11but more about affirming their stance in, you know,
05:15principled diplomacy.
05:16So can you elaborate more on that
05:18and what you feel the MWCQP has done for this?
05:22Okay.
05:23I would like to share our experience.
05:28We went to the Spanish embassy and we met the Spanish ambassador
05:36and he actually very interested and upon seeing our letter,
05:43so he said that he will bring this letter to his government.
05:48So we are so surprised and we really appreciate.
05:50So, but what he told us really stuck me and saying that
05:55this is not an outstanding effort or this is just normal.
06:01So that is what he mentioned about the letter.
06:06So we also want to say that, to stress our points,
06:13that the ICJ, the International Court of Justice,
06:19and the ICC, International Criminal Court,
06:22they have actually issued, you know, several decisions
06:26to actually punish Israel, but that has been denied.
06:34So all resolutions by the United Nations
06:38and even decision made by ICJ and ICC is not being enforced.
06:47So we do not this kind of double standard, you know, double standard.
06:52So that's why we say that we want justice,
06:57we want principles to be implemented throughout the nations.
07:03Please do not practice double standard.
07:09So when Israel attacked,
07:12when Israel attacked, launched attacks on Gaza,
07:16we call the international community,
07:19call that as act of self-defense.
07:22But when the Palestinians act in resistance,
07:27they call that as act of terrorism.
07:30So that is double standard.
07:31So we do not want that to happen.
07:33So I do like that you said that there is a double standard
07:38in today's international state
07:40where the world views the acts that Palestinians do
07:44as, you know, acts of terrorism,
07:46but the same cannot be said for Israel.
07:48Yeah.
07:49And I just wanted to circle back on the statement
07:53that the Spanish ambassador said.
07:57He said that this was a normal occurrence for him.
08:00Yeah.
08:01Is this the first time that the MWCQP has, you know,
08:06rallied or spoken out to the Spanish embassy?
08:11Yeah, that was our first time.
08:14Yeah, that was the first time.
08:15We usually send our protest notes to the US embassy
08:19and the British High Commission, right?
08:22So, and to the European Union countries,
08:25that was our first time.
08:27So besides Spain, we also had audience with the Norway,
08:32the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
08:36So we had a brief session with the staff
08:43to just explain what our, the content of our letter.
08:47There is a hope there that the, you know,
08:52the Spanish embassy has accepted URT and also met the MWCQP.
08:57What hopes do you have in, you know,
09:00driving this cause for Israeli women, Israeli children,
09:04Israeli, sorry, Palestinian women,
09:06Palestinian children, and Palestine in general?
09:10So what hopes do you have, what hopes do the MWCQP have,
09:13you know, in driving this cause forward now that, you know,
09:16the eyes, its national eyes are now on the MWCQP?
09:19Oh, we really hope that our voice are being heard.
09:26Our voices are being heard.
09:28And we need to do more, actually.
09:32So we need, Daniel, so we need to do more on this.
09:35So, well, sending protest notes, sending letters for,
09:40to the respective embassies is just a little thing that we can do.
09:48So, actually, there is a lot more things to do and a lot more hope.
09:54And I would say many other things that need to be done, you know,
10:02for us to help in this struggle to liberate Palestine and Al-Aqsa.
10:09Right.
10:10So, when we're talking about the, sorry about the letter, right?
10:14Yeah.
10:15Because this is a very, you know, momentous moment for the MWCQP, right?
10:18Because finally, a big nation like Spain has finally heard our voices, right?
10:26So, but looking back at the context of Malaysia,
10:31the, you know, the letter was endorsed by multiple Malaysian MPs,
10:35multiple Malaysian NGOs and all that prominent individuals, right?
10:39What does this collective voice represent in the broader context of Malaysian civil society?
10:45Right.
10:46Alhamdulillah.
10:47This is not the first, I would say, letter.
10:51We have written, come up with a few press statements before this.
10:57And we actually, we usually circulate our letter for the MPs, for other NGOs to sign or endorse,
11:08you know, in support of our statement.
11:11So, Alhamdulillah, this time around, a few MPs, NGOs and also influencers, individuals actually endorse the letter as well.
11:23So, we see this as a concerted effort, you know, as the strong, the more the better.
11:31We see everyone in support of this struggle.
11:36So, MWCQP believe that we cannot work in silo.
11:44We cannot work all by ourselves.
11:47We need to garner support from every Malaysian, if possible, you know, towards this struggle.
11:54So, that's why every time when we issue a letter or press statements, usually we will circulate this to get awareness,
12:07to get the awareness so that everybody is on the same page, keep abreast with the latest what happened in Palestine
12:15and give support towards the struggle, insyaAllah.
12:21I understand that MWCQP has, you know, have garnered a lot of support,
12:27a momentous support from, you know, the Malaysian MPs, the NGOs and all that.
12:32But I also want to ask, there's this trend of, there's this increasing trend of the Gen Zs
12:42struggling to, you know, get their voices heard.
12:47So, especially women, Malaysian women that, you know, from the Gen Z and all that.
12:53And I feel like the MWCQP might be a good avenue for women's voices from, you know, the Gen Zs to be heard,
13:01to be boosted, especially in regards to the Gaza situation, right?
13:06So, how do you feel in the MWCQP, you know, boosting the voices of the younger generation?
13:11Oh, okay.
13:12So, I can understand your question, your concerns about this.
13:20So, that's, we have, we are quite active with our social media.
13:25We have our Facebook and maybe Gen Z do not go into Facebook.
13:29We rarely do.
13:30But we do have our Instagrams and to reach out to this Gen Z, the younger generations.
13:38So, we are quite, we are quite active with that.
13:41We always schedule our status, you know, taking advantage into the prominent, the dates,
13:51which is very significant to the Palestinian culture.
13:56So, that's how we actually reach out to the Gen Z.
14:01And we really hope that Gen Zs, the younger generations also come and be together with us
14:09so that this, the, I mean, the Gen Y, the older generation can, are very, I mean,
14:21very happy to see the younger generation is also looking into these issues.
14:26So, my concern is, as a woman, as a mother, as a grandmother, I am very concerned about the values,
14:36humanitarian values.
14:37If you see what happened in here nowadays, what Israel has been doing, it's speechless.
14:45The brutalities, you know, the, whatever, no humanitarian values can actually explain what they have been doing.
14:59So, I am very concerned about the next generation, you know, my grandchildren, you know, my great-great-grandchildren,
15:07maybe what sort of reference are they taking if we allow this to happen.
15:15So, that actually be our main motivation to work in this course to instill back justice
15:25and to fall back to the correct reference of humanity.
15:33As a Gen Z myself, I also, you know, feel this concern that, you know, the atrocities that we're seeing,
15:40you know, happening in Gaza is just unspeakable.
15:42It's unthinkable to think that these things are happening to human beings, you know.
15:48And I feel like, you know, the collective Gen Z, everyone in Malaysia and also around the world knows how bad this thing is.
15:57But, as, you know, as you said before, and as many think, our voices are being silenced,
16:03our voices are being muted because we don't have an avenue to, you know, speak out about these atrocities.
16:10And I am glad that MWCQP is, you know, one of these avenues that are continuing to push, you know, this fight forward.
16:15Right.
16:16Right.
16:17So, Daniel, I think we have, we should encourage the younger generation also to use every avenues that we have.
16:27Speak out.
16:28You mentioned speak out just now.
16:29Yes, speak out.
16:31Maybe you should bring this issue to the street, you know, join the rallies and be innovative and creative in cascading the information.
16:45And also, speak out and write in your social media.
16:51Of course, as the NGOs write in letters, we write in social media.
16:55Right.
16:55We'll both fight, you know, fight this fight together.
16:58Alhamdulillah.
16:59So, I just wanted to ask you, you know, as a women-led coalition, right, how do you see, you know, your role in standing up to, you know,
17:08for those who are most affected by this conflict, you know, from a women's perspective?
17:13Okay.
17:14So, I think as women, whatever happened in Gaza, 75% of the victims are women and children.
17:28So, being women, being mother, being a grandmother, so I guess we can relate to whatever happened in Gaza,
17:36the sorrow, the pain that they are experiencing.
17:41So, that was actually the motivation for us to do more, you know, to help and assist our Palestinian over there.
17:57So, if you talk to them, if you talk to the Palestinian women, be it in Gaza or be it in the diaspora or even in Malaysia,
18:08you don't even hear that they are asking sympathy from us.
18:13No.
18:13They are talking about their dignity, they are talking about freedom, they are talking about accountability, yeah.
18:21So, that is the kind of justice or the kind of voices that we want to hear.
18:27We do not, I mean, they do not ask us to pity them, to sympathize on them.
18:33So, however, being women, we can relate.
18:36I guess only women can understand women better.
18:39Yeah, so, that is it.
18:42I just want to, I noticed that you said something interesting that they don't want pity.
18:47They don't want, you know, your tears and all that.
18:50Because they still have their dignity.
18:52Because, you know, I think Palestinians know that around the world that people see their struggle
18:59because the atrocities that are happening, it is broadcasted worldwide, 24-7.
19:06Every single news station is talking about it.
19:08And people know that these women, these children, and these Palestinians are struggling.
19:15But you said, you clearly said that they don't want your pity.
19:19But they want you to uphold their dignity, you know, their honor and all that.
19:23So, can you elaborate more on, you know, what makes a woman, you know, uphold their dignity
19:30in spite of the atrocities that are happening towards them?
19:33I think our YouTube or whatever videos that we have been seeing nowadays,
19:43when you see women in Palestine, in Gaza especially,
19:49when they receive news or about the shuhada among their relatives,
19:57among their children, husbands maybe, they cry.
20:03But, however, they did not say something.
20:06I mean, what they utter is just hasbunallah wa ni'mal wakil, you know.
20:12So, that shows how strong they are, how resilient they are.
20:17And I would like to bring about one personality, Dr. Abir, Dr. Abir An-Najjar.
20:26So, she lost nine of her children.
20:30Nine of her children.
20:31Her house has been bombed, targeted,
20:33because both of them are medical doctors,
20:37the husband and the wife.
20:38So, she was actually working in the hospital.
20:41And then, her house has been bombed,
20:46and they brought in nine bodies of his children.
20:49So, looking, I mean, embracing the bodies of her children,
20:55that's it.
20:56And then, she went back to work.
20:59So, that's how resilient they are, yeah, towards this.
21:05Okay, I...
21:07I feel like, you know, seeing your children being brought in body bags,
21:14you know, nine of them,
21:15and still having the courage to, you know...
21:17Go back to work.
21:18Go back to work, because, you know,
21:19there are thousands of others that are, you know, still struggling.
21:23It speaks to, you know, the resilience that she has.
21:26And God bless her, you know, God bless doctor.
21:30She finds the strength to keep moving forward.
21:33Yeah.
21:33So, moving on, I would just like to, you know, ask, you know, about, you know...
21:37Yeah.
21:37Some might see these, you know, international crises and all that as, you know,
21:43distant, because it's not happening in front of our doorstep, right?
21:46We live in Malaysia.
21:47We're thousands of miles away from Palestine.
21:49But, like, how would you explain, you know, the emotional...
21:55Emotional, so to speak, emotional bond or emotional trauma that you would feel,
22:03even though you're looking at this through, you know, a screen and all that?
22:06How would you feel, especially for women?
22:08Because, as you all know, the MWCQP is, you know, bringing this fight forward.
22:14So, how would women feel about this emotional bond that they have with Palestinian women
22:18seeing through the screen happening, you know, thousands of miles away?
22:22We have this moral obligation, yeah?
22:26So, as women, so, like I said just now, only women can understand women
22:31and we can relate whatever pain and sorrow that they are facing.
22:38So, that is one part of the...
22:41And the other is about our faith.
22:44Yeah, our faith.
22:45We have the belief.
22:49Rasulullah SAW mentioned that
22:52if one part of your body is in pain,
22:59the rest of your body feels the same pain, right?
23:03So, that is what we feel.
23:05That is what we feel.
23:06So, even though it's distant, it's far away from us,
23:10but we do have this faith, you know, the same belief that we are connected to each other.
23:17And the third, maybe the third factor is about humanity.
23:21Humanity do not recognize different religion, different race, different skin color.
23:29So, you want to uphold justice, right?
23:32So, you do not base on skin color or even it is far away.
23:40You have that moral obligation to help them.
23:44So, I think there's no reason, even though we are far away from Palestine,
23:49we still can help them.
23:54So, I think for MWCQP, in Ramadan 2025, the last Ramadan,
24:02we launched a campaign.
24:05We called it the AVEN Project.
24:07So, we targeted about RM50,000, not much, not RM50,000, it's just RM50,000 to sponsor our Palestinian mothers over there
24:22to help them to build oven made of mud and sponsor flour to make the bread.
24:32And Alhamdulillah, it was only yesterday we received a video from Gaza
24:38showing that, yeah, the project has been implemented successfully.
24:44And we saw with our very own eyes how the children of Gaza tasted hot bread, you know, freshly baked bread.
24:56So, that really, the video, I think the video touched many, touched many hearts.
25:02And insyaAllah, we will be extending this campaign.
25:08So, I think this is a very successful project.
25:12So, that is only one part of it, to show our concern and give our, extend our assistance to the Palestinian in Gaza.
25:23I see.
25:24That is very, you know, to see your own work, you know, being successful.
25:29Right.
25:30Especially since, you know, the Gaza blockade is happening and children are being starving there, right?
25:36Women are being starving there.
25:37So, to see them finally eat bread, you know, and eating, you know, one of the things that they've sorely missed,
25:43it is very good to see.
25:45Alhamdulillah.
25:45Alhamdulillah.
25:46Speaking of campaigns, I wanted to ask, does the MWCQP have any other campaigns that, you know,
25:52are, you know, on the horizon, maybe, in regards to Gaza?
25:56Okay.
25:59Campaigns, okay.
26:01So, maybe I can share a few examples.
26:04MWCQP is consisting of about 20, nearly 20 NGOs with us.
26:16It is a collision, Malaysian Women's Collision.
26:20So, because we strongly believe that we can synergize, work in synergize and collaborate with the rest of the NGO.
26:32So, one of our NGOs, Halwan, they are very consistent in promoting, they have been conducting ALQUD scams for the children.
26:52So, that is also, we work joint venture, we collaborate and then we also promote this as our campaign to educate the children, you know.
27:05It has to start at a very young age to understand whatever happened in Palestine.
27:12So, besides that, we have our Rose to Rose or Humanitarian Care Malaysia, MyCare.
27:19So, they actually conducted high tea to garner support or donation drive to buy prosthetic limbs for the children.
27:32Yeah, so, victims are mainly children and women.
27:38So, the children, they are being targeted, you know, they shoot their legs so that they cannot walk, their hands, they cannot.
27:46So, the Rose to Rose and Humanitarian Care Malaysia, MyCare, so actually they are very active in having donation drive for this prosthetic limbs.
28:01Yeah, so those are the campaigns.
28:03We have many other, like Chakna Palestine, also conducting swim with Gaza.
28:11So, yeah, swim with Gaza.
28:13Swim with Gaza, when, during those peaceful years, the Gaza family, they took their families to the beach and enjoy the scenery, teach their children how to swim, you know.
28:28So, every August of the year, so they do that.
28:33So, Malaysian Women's Coalition, in collaboration with Viva Palestina Malaysia, so one of our NGO member, so we conducted swim with Gaza.
28:44In 2024, we have, we conducted, we organized that program in Putrajaya Lake.
28:51Last year, 2024, we had two sessions of swim with Gaza, one with Chakna Palestine, Chakna Palestine in Pantai Bacok, Kota Baru, Kelantan, and the other with MyCare in Port Dickson.
29:09So, those are a few campaigns that we do to actually promote awareness on Palestinian issues.
29:18I'm especially, you know, odd and amazed by the prosthetic limbs and all that, because, like you said, 75% of women in Gaza are being targeted, right, are being the casualties of this, you know, this ongoing apartheid.
29:38But, I would also like to point out that, even though in times where, like, there are, there is a relative peace, Gaza is still in the minds of the NWCQP, and, you know, the swim with Gaza, right?
29:53Yeah, swim with Gaza.
29:54So, I like that, you know, we still think about Gaza, even though there are still, you know, in times of peace, right?
30:00Especially, like, for an activity that is very fun.
30:03Personally, going to the beach is very fun, especially in times of war where you rarely see, you know, these sights of, you know, families going to the beach with, you know, with their children and their families and all that.
30:15So, I really like that, you know, Gaza is doing that.
30:18The swim with Gaza campaign is taken internationally.
30:22Internationally, you see.
30:23Yeah, internationally.
30:23Every country, most countries will do that, will organize that program.
30:29So, I just wanted to ask you about, you know, Gaza in general.
30:33I wanted to ask you, right?
30:34What lessons can we, you know, can we draw from these past struggles, particularly in, you know, sustaining momentum and hope for the future?
30:43Okay, what we can learn from the struggle in Gaza, first and foremost is their resistance, their resilience, and we know that to make about change, do not take overnight.
31:00So, it really, we have to persevere, you know, we have to, it's a journey, a very long journey.
31:09So, we really hope, we learn from what the people of Gaza, the people of Palestine is their resistance, their resilience, and also their innovativeness and their creativeness.
31:26You know, you imagine now at the state of, I hate to use war, you know, because this is not war, this is an attack.
31:38Exactly.
31:39Yeah, by the Israel.
31:41When you see war is between two countries who have the same strength, same capabilities.
31:48But this is a war.
31:50Yeah, it's a genocide.
31:51At this point in time, you can see that how, when I said, when I shared with you the stories about the oven projects.
31:59So, they can, they don't have an electric oven, so they made up, ovens made of mud, right?
32:07Yeah.
32:07So, and you can see that they generate electricity by using solar.
32:13And even they cycle, I think you are Gen Z, you do not know that we can actually produce electricity by using the dynamo.
32:23Ah, I see.
32:23From the…
32:24Dialogue.
32:24Yeah, yeah, yeah.
32:26So, that is what they have been doing to generate electricity.
32:29They cycle and, yeah.
32:31So, those are the lessons that we can learn from the people of Palestine, from the people of Gaza.
32:37But most, I think, you can see that I would like to share that what we see in Gaza, in Palestine, are examples of what akhlaq, of attitude that is a synonym with the Islamic teachings.
33:03For Gen Zs out there, maybe, you know, the Gazan struggle is, you know, the epitome of the human spirit, you know, the human resilience and the human, you know, the human spirit to keep moving forward despite everything that is going on through you, right?
33:18So, I do believe that, you know, I would like, I wouldn't want to exaggerate, but, you know, the Gazans are the epitome of the humans, you know, the shining examples of, you know, humans that we have today.
33:31And their resilience and their strength and all that.
33:34Yes, yes.
33:35So, just, you know, wanted to, you know, ask you about the MWCQP, right?
33:41And we're talking about, you know, women's, you know, talk about the overall struggle and, you know, human spirit.
33:48We've seen this struggle in South Africa where they are, you know, struggling against apartheid.
33:53And we also see this, you know, in civil rights movements in the United States and all that.
33:57So, we also now see this in the MWCQP where they are moving, you know, they are standing in solidarity with the Gazan women and Gaza in general.
34:07So, I just wanted to see, I just wanted to ask you, you know, what, how do you see, you know, the MWCQP as part of this legacy, as part of this fight for justice?
34:16Yes, yeah.
34:17So, we do not want to miss the boat.
34:21We want to be together.
34:26It's history in the making.
34:29Yeah, we have the belief that Palestine will be free.
34:32Yeah, Palestine will be free.
34:33So, we want to be part of history and we want to be at the right side of history.
34:40So, women's has been fighting injustice, like you said, in South Africa against apartheid and also in America against the civil rights.
34:53So, in, I mean, closer to home, we can share an example of one personality in Aceh.
35:05So, she is from Aceh by the name of Admiral Kemalahayati or maybe you can Google Kemalahayati.
35:15Yeah, yeah, Malahayati, Kemalahayati or Malahayati.
35:20She was the first women's admiral.
35:23Right.
35:23And she led a group of women, a widow, a group of widows who, the husbands has been killed in the war.
35:35So, she led this troop which she called Inongbali.
35:39Yeah, and they actually fought against the Dutch, against the colonials.
35:45And Admiral Kemalahayati killed the, I mean, the leader, the houseman.
35:55Yeah, so that is closer to home.
35:58Yeah, so which we can take example, take the spirit.
36:02Yeah, yeah.
36:03And then, I did mention about the courageous Dr. Fauziah Muhammad Hassan who actually on board the women's boat to Gaza.
36:14And just a few weeks ago, a few of our members, I'm not going to mention names, actually took part in the march to Rafah, march to Gaza.
36:26You know, so the sumut and they went to Egypt and then they face up to the Egyptian forces and because they are trying to get into Gaza, try to make, to open the Rafah border.
36:45So, those are the few examples that I can share with you, whatever, we want to be part of the legacy.
36:56Yeah, so it's everywhere along the generation that you can see that women actually champion this course.
37:08So, you want to be on the right side of history.
37:11I like that quote because, you know, numerous times, you know, history has been rewritten.
37:17As they say, history is written by the victors, right?
37:20And unfortunately for Palestine, although we will see that Palestine will be free, as of now, they are still struggling.
37:28They are still, you know, in this struggle of this genocide that is happening towards them.
37:32But, as you said, history will be written by the victors and hopefully the victors will be the ones that are on, you know, the side of justice.
37:42So, just wanted to ask you about, you know, when it comes to, you know, standing on the right side of justice or on the right side of history,
37:51are there, you know, ways, how are the ways that we can also move forward and, you know, participate in this fight for freedom, fight for justice, especially for women in Malaysia?
38:01So, are there, you know, any alternatives, are there any mediums that we could, you know, Malaysian women could access so that they can have their voices heard,
38:10so that they can participate in, you know, this fight for justice?
38:14Yeah.
38:14So, I guess the viewers can, there are many avenues here in Malaysia.
38:22If you talk about the fighting in this course to liberate Al-Quds and Palestine.
38:32So, Malaysian Women's Collision for Al-Quds and Palestine is just a small collision.
38:39And we are also a member to the Asia-Pacific Women's Collision for Al-Quds and Palestine.
38:45So, the members are namely Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Maldives.
38:50So, only four countries.
38:51So, we are, Alhamdulillah, Malaysia has been appointed as the President, Dr. Fauzia has been, yeah, has been appointed as the President for the Asia-Pacific.
39:07We are the successor from Indonesia.
39:11So, the Malaysian Women's Collision has to be the Secretariat, you know, to support,
39:20to support this.
39:22So, MWCQP is very active in Asia-Pacific Women's Collision and also the Global Women's Collision.
39:33So, you can see that from country, we go to the region, to the Asia-Pacific region and to global.
39:40So, actually working for this course, we are actually work in tandem with the rest of the world.
39:48You are not alone, right?
39:50You are not alone and you are not the first one to do this kind of job.
39:57So, being in the Women's Collision for Al-Quds and Palestine, we try to coordinate and be visible with our name.
40:10And I guess the viewers, you can join any programs.
40:17We advertise our programs via social media and also, we haven't get the, maybe via this, yes, Palestinian Diaries.
40:32So, besides MWCQP, believe me, there are many other avenues, many other NGOs.
40:39Oh, you can set up your own NGO, Gen Z, come on.
40:43Yeah, to fight forward with our own two hands, right?
40:47Yes, yes, yes.
40:48So, Alhamdulillah.
40:50So, I just wanted to ask you, you know, finally, as a final question, you know, to wrap things up.
40:54I just wanted to ask you, you know, is there a message that you want to share to everyone, you know,
40:58especially in the pits of despair that we see that are happening to the Gaza women and children?
41:06What keeps you going, you know?
41:08Is there a message that you resonate with to keep you going and to keep having hope?
41:16So, it's an N already.
41:18It's an N, unfortunately.
41:20I think it's a journey. It's a long journey.
41:25So, we do not know when Palestine will be free.
41:29But we have this belief, a strong belief that Palestine will be free.
41:34So, from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
41:39Yeah.
41:39So, just bear with us.
41:43Have hope and ask from Allah SWT that this will materialize.
41:53If not in our generation, maybe in the next generation.
41:59So, we should have that belief.
42:02So, there are many avenues.
42:05There are many avenues.
42:07One interesting, maybe interesting joint collaboration that we have, MWCQP has done,
42:15is with the Malaysian, with the experts, the psychiatrists and the clinical psychologists.
42:23When Gaza was first attacked, so it really, many students, Palestinian students here in Malaysia were affected.
42:32So, they're really concerned about their families in Gaza.
42:37So, what we did was, we became the bridge, you know, to connect these experts,
42:42the psychiatrists and the clinical psychologists to the Palestinian students.
42:47So, these experts, they formed the Malaysian psycho-spiritual support for Palestine, MPS4P.
42:58And we became the bridge to connect them with the Palestinian families here in Malaysia.
43:07So, I guess there are a lot more avenues, a lot more opportunities for you to be at the right side of history.
43:17And especially, we encourage, we in Malaysian Women's Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine,
43:23encourage the younger generation to come forward if you, you can make your own collision,
43:32the youth collision for Al-Quds and Palestine, and speak up, you know.
43:38Silent is complicity.
43:40So, we do not want that to happen.
43:43And we really hope that the younger generation can take an active role, active part in this struggle, inshaAllah.
43:53Silence is complicity.
43:55So, that wraps up the for today's episode.
43:56Thank you very much, Puan Zereda, for agreeing to join us in this episode of Palestinian Diaries.
44:02And for our views at home, as Puan Zereda said,
44:08from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
