00:00Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology is taking aim at two birds with one stone in taking on the dilemma of proper nutrition and food insecurity in the homeland by way of helping MSMEs grow.
00:10In addition, the administration is going all in with its whole-of-government scheme in more severely undernourished regions or provinces in the country, as summed up by our Denise Osorio in this report.
00:21In the fight against malnutrition and food insecurity, the Philippine government is tackling more than just a public health issue, as it also backs the growth of micro-, small-, and medium-enterprises, or MSMEs.
00:37Through the Department of Science and Technology's Food and Nutrition Research Institute, or DOST-FNRI, small businesses are given access to science-based food technologies that could help them get a foot in the market.
00:50Ang problema ng malnutrition at kakulangan sa pagkain ay isang priority na programa, mga programang prioridad ng dobyano.
01:04The DOST is also helping MSMEs take up innovative technologies and tap into suitable markets through initiatives like the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program or Setup, giving them the tools to stand on their own feet.
01:18Sa pamamagitan po ng paglilink na ito sa ating mga suppliers at sa merkado, nagkakaroon po ng sure na kita, profit, at magiging sustainable yung ating mga tinatransfer na food technologies.
01:31One of FNRI's newer projects is the use of standardized Nutribun premix, which makes it quicker and easier for community bakeries to produce nutritious bread, while also guaranteeing quality and income, particularly in sectors and regions that are hard hit.
01:48Recently, we signed an agreement with SMC, San Miguel Food Corporation, to standardize your Nutribun.
01:58Based on the 2023 National Nutrition Survey, 3 in 10 Filipino households still struggle with food insecurity.
02:28Especially in the Bangsamoro, Mimaropa, Bicol, and parts of Mindanao.
02:35To address this, the government is going all in with a whole-of-government approach, working hand-in-hand with the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, local government units, and the private sector to ensure every Filipino has food on the table.
02:54Denise Osorio, for the National Television Network, for a new and better Philippines.
