00:00To a great cheer from the grandmothers, the board is updated to show the number of grandchildren
00:06they've tracked down.
00:08Adriana Metz Romero's brother has just been identified at the age of 48.
00:13I have his phone number and I saved it under the last name Metz Romero.
00:21So well from here on out, it's all a win.
00:25The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was taken after being born to a mother in captivity,
00:31then brought up in another family.
00:33His parents were two left-wing activists who disappeared after their arrest in 1976, at
00:39the start of the Argentine military dictatorship that lasted until 1983.
00:45The 140th stolen grandchild was identified thanks to a DNA test, carried out following
00:50an anonymous tip.
00:52A discovery made possible by the grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo group.
00:58We fight so that the truth is not extinguished.
01:01Welcome grandchild 140.
01:07The group takes its name from the Plaza de Mayo square in Buenos Aires, where women held protests
01:12demanding information on the whereabouts of their snatched family members.
01:17Their relatives are among the 30,000 people killed or disappeared when the junta was in
01:21power, though Argentina's current president, Javier Malay, disputes the figure.
01:27The grandmothers have accused Malay of defunding their research in his quest to slash public
01:31spending, while they estimate that more than 300 now-grown babies have yet to be found.
01:37So thank you very much for joining us today.
