00:00Who do you trust more? A doctor with years of training or an AI built to diagnose diseases?
00:07AI is transforming medicine. It can detect cancer at a really early stage. It spots signs of
00:13Alzheimer's before symptoms really show. And AI models are especially good at reading medical
00:19images. But here's the big question. Can AI help with general diagnosis, like when you walk into
00:26a clinic with vague symptoms? And what does all this mean for you? Let's find out.
00:31Diagnosed by AI. Microsoft has built an AI system called MAIDXO. They linked it to a specific medical
00:40database. And OpenAI's ChatGPT-03. That's an advanced reasoning model. What does that mean?
00:48The AI doesn't just offer the most likely answer like other models would. It tries to solve problems
00:54step by step, using logic and evidence to solve complex tasks. To test it, Microsoft generated
01:01medical cases based on different patients' real data. Each case came with a set of symptoms. The
01:07AI could even order extra tests, fictional but medically accurate, to confirm or rule out a
01:13diagnosis. Microsoft says the AI solved 8 out of 10 cases. When real doctors were given the case
01:20studies without any help. No books, no colleagues, no AI. Their answers were only right in 2 out of
01:27the 10 cases. What's important? A peer review where other experts evaluate the research is still pending
01:34for this study. Still, Mustafa Suleiman, head of Microsoft's AI unit, says these systems could be
01:40nearly error-free in a couple of years. So could AI be smarter than your doctor? Well, in specific cases,
01:49it already kind of is. Especially when it comes to medical image recognition, like analyzing brain
01:55scans. It can also save costs. According to Microsoft, MAIDXO was better than doctors at picking the right
02:03diagnostic tests. Fewer unnecessary ones means more efficient care. But, and this is important,
02:09the company says there is no way AI could replace doctors. Why? Because medicine is not just about data.
02:17Still, many experts believe that AI will reshape healthcare. It could personalize treatments and
02:23speed up drug development, and even help you manage your care routine and monitor drug intake and vitals,
02:30for example. So we can all probably benefit from medical AI in the near future.
02:36Even though ChatGPT-03 was part of Microsoft's AI setup, don't turn to a regular chatbot for medical
02:43advice. Here are five reasons why. First, a chatbot doesn't know your full medical history. It can't
02:50give advice that's truly personal or accurate in your situation. An AI chatbot can't examine you or order
02:58tests. And those are often needed to figure out what's really going on with your health. Sometimes
03:03it gives wrong or outdated information. That's because it's just pulling from the data that it was trained
03:09on and not real-time medical data. An AI chatbot can sound confident even when it's wrong. That might
03:16make you trust advice that could actually be harmful. And last but not least, AI is not a doctor. Real
03:23doctors use years of training and hands-on experience. While a chatbot is just a tool meant to help with
03:29general information. It's not meant to replace professional care. That's it from me. See you soon. Bye!
