01:01I've been looking for a job in my field for eight years. Companies demand experience I can't obtain.
01:07Irania Guerrero, a medical student, UTASA, adds, looking for work is like starting a race with no end goal.
01:15There are initiatives underway to address this reality, such as the Ministry of Youth's My First Chance program.
01:20It offers quarterly internships for 20 young people aged 18 to 25 with no experience.
01:27This pilot initiative includes mentoring, training, and certification.
01:31However, its reach, 100 young people annually, is insufficient given the magnitude of the problem.
01:38Needs represent a growing social cost, hopelessness, isolation, and wasted potential.
01:43The country needs to reformulate its entry-level employment policies and link technical education to the demands of the productive sector.
01:51Creating opportunities for these young people is not only an economic imperative, but also a social justice requirement.
